Summer Bike Camp

Long summer days, dusty trails, and big smiles are just around the corner. Our Summer Bike Camps are back — and registration is now open!

We are excited to welcome back Lindsay Mullen as our head coach, along with many of the incredible coaches who made last summer such a success. Their energy, experience, and passion for biking will make this season one to remember.

Each week-long camp offers skill progression, outdoor adventure, and plenty of trail time — all in a fun and supportive environment for young riders.

Camps are popular and spaces are limited, so we encourage families to register early to avoid missing out.

Get ready for a summer of movement, confidence, and connection on the trails.

Trails Manager Update

Peter is heading off on Adventure

We want to share some bittersweet news with our Caledonia Nordic community — our incredible Trails Manager, Peter Hoffman, is heading off on a new adventure with his partner Shelby. The pair will be relocating to Bella Coola for the next year, and while we will miss them both dearly, we are so excited for what lies ahead for them.

Peter has been an integral part of the team for the past few years, working tirelessly to deliver outstanding trail conditions and making sure our network was in top shape all season long. We are so grateful for his hard work, dedication, and positive spirit.

Peter will be with us until October-ish, so be sure to wish him well when you see him out and about at the club!

With this departure, we are now hiring for the Trails Manager position. If you or someone you know is passionate about trail systems and outdoor recreation, please check out the job posting.

The Disc Golf Season has Arrived!

Baskets are in

We are excited to let everyone know that all the baskets are back in place on the course! As we wait for the last of the snow to melt, we will begin preparing and installing tee boxes to complete the setup for the season.

In the meantime, head out and enjoy the course, and be sure to check UDisc for the latest updates, course layout, and any temporary changes.

Let the disc golf season begin!

Bylaw Review :

Member Feedback Needed

The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club’s current bylaws were last updated in 2011, and the club has grown significantly since then. In addition, the new Societies Act came into effect in 2016, with further amendments introduced in 2023. As a result, our existing bylaws are no longer compliant with the Act and may no longer fully serve the needs of our members.

On June 28, 2023, the CNSC Board of Directors held an extraordinary meeting of members to vote on a revised set of bylaws. While the vote to ratify the new bylaws did not pass, a resolution was approved to form a member-led bylaw review committee.

This committee — consisting of Tim Roots, Dave Snadden, Barry Booth, Dave Nelson, and Gretchen Prystawik — was formed in 2023 and worked under a clear terms of reference through the winter of 2025. Their work included a detailed review of:

  • The current CNSC bylaws
  • The BC Societies Act and its Model Bylaws
  • The proposed (but unsuccessful) 2023 revisions
  • Bylaws from other Nordic ski clubs
  • Other relevant governance resources

An initial draft of updated bylaws was presented to the Board and, after minor adjustments, has now been posted for member review here:

🔗 Draft CNSC Updated Bylaws for Member Review

Note: Revisions are highlighted in blue, with accompanying notes explaining the rationale behind each suggestion.

We are now asking members to provide feedback through the following form:

📝 Feedback Form

The form will remain open until June 30, 2025. After that, the Board will review all feedback, revise the bylaws accordingly, and share a final draft in advance of a ratification vote at the October 22, 2025 Annual General Meeting.

If the updated bylaws are successfully ratified, the current Board recommends a follow-up process to modernize the club’s policies and standard operating procedures, which would be advanced by the newly elected 2025–26 Board.

Thank you for helping shape the future governance of your club.

Thank You for Your Feedback :

Trail Expansion Survey

A big thank you to all the members who took the time to complete the Trail Expansion Survey. Your feedback is incredibly valuable and will help guide future planning for the potential trail network.

We are pleased to share that the majority of respondents expressed support for the potential expansion. The Board of Directors will now review all responses and take your input into account as discussions continue.

We will keep members informed and engaged as the process moves forward—stay tuned for updates!

We are still looking for an Event sponsor, $3000. Includes table of ten, branding on all media moving forward and additional mentions at the event. I do not know how to promote this, but maybe it could be the biggest part of the add?

Also, all tickets are purchased through the links or me directly. It might be a better idea to include my email or the rotary website than the links? Also I am looking at the website and see multiple issues so I will need to get those fixed first….
