"My name is ____ and I’m calling from ___. I urge you to support increased investments that improve climate resilience and achieve an equitable recovery.
I strongly support funding to:
- help farmers transition to organic farming,
- invest in biological controls and insectaries to support farmers in ecological pest management,
- create and support regional training centers that provide culturally-appropriate training in organic and sustainable farming for historically-underserved farmers of color and beginning farmers,
- hire farm advisors, community educators, and extension specialists with specialties in certified organic agriculture, small farm advising, and climate resilience and mitigation management,
- invest in food systems infrastructure that will incentivize producers to use ecologically-sound growing and ranching practices; increase community food security and self-reliance; and ensure all Californians have access to healthy food; and
- support farmworker home weatherization.
Significantly increased funding is needed to support resilient farm and food systems to combat hunger and climate change, and to scale up climate-resilient farms and support farmworker safety and wellbeing."
THANK YOU!
