BE READY FOR THE LONG LABOR DAY WEEKEND

* * * *
Long weekends + elevated crime rates make job sites prime targets for criminals and vandals. Be prepared this Labor Day weekend.
Tensions are still high in our community and metal theft continues to be a problem. Each day, CICP receives multiple notifications from our police network about metal and catalytic converter theft. All of this may put your job site and equipment at increased risk for theft and vandalism. There are a few simple steps you can take to secure your job sites and minimize the risk of being a target for thieves and vandals.

Site security walkthrough
  • Have a plan - identify areas that may provide opportunities for thieves.
  • Use the latest CICP Security Walk Though Checklist as a guide to help you identify and correct potential risk areas.

Reward Signs & Community Engagement
A sign to let them know you're watching is a key deterrent and your first line of defense against would be thieves.
  • Post CICP Reward signs on the perimeter of your site.
  • Communicate with your neighbors so they are your extra eyes and ears after hours and on weekends.
Marking Tools
Marking tools sends a message to thieves that they will not be easy to sell or pawn.

Proper Storage & Surveillance
Keep tools and valuable material secure by removing them from the job site, store them out of sight in a locked and double contained location, or utilize video surveillance and/or onsite security. It is also a good practice to change locks on the site before the holiday.

Make it tough on criminals. Be prepared before crime hits your job site.
