Putting the "We" in Solidarity (Events)
& Looking Closer at Screwnomics as "Womenists"

Rickey Gard Diamond

On this month's ONE WILPF Call we'll be working together to complete the choices for SOLIDARITY ACTIONS in 2019. Your voice and input are important. Which are the actions and dates that will most fully move our issues forward? Which will raise our visibility most vibrantly? Which will prove our worth as allies and collaborators in a larger movement? Which will work best on a local level across the whole United States?

Our goal is to emerge with a few options and then have the full membership VOTE on them, so we can announce in January which ones we're moving forward on. Knowing in January will help us get organized for Spring Solidarity Actions, and then all the way through the year.

This is your opportunity to be heard as individual members and branches. So do join the call and weigh in! Everyone's voice matters.

On the same call our featured speaker will be Rickey Gard Diamond, author of the book Screwnomics: How the Economy Works Against Women & Real Ways to Make Lasting Change

For at-large members looking for ways to connect with other like-minded women in their community, or for branches looking for new ways to reach out to a wider circle of women... women who don't see themselves (yet) as peace activists... who are just trying to hang on in uncertain economic times... and struggling to understand WHY things are so difficult and how we could change them to be easier... this book and its accompanying discussion groups and workbook can help you reach out!

Rickey's book invites women at every class level to take a closer look at how the economic system in the US is rigged against them..... and what can be done nationally and locally to create a more equal playing field.   It's a call to action, not just a rehashing of economic terms.

The discussion groups the book inspires use a free downloadable Workbook WHERE CAN I GET SOME CHANGE!? to inspire solutions that work and can be worked on locally.

Rickey has been promoting WILPF US, right along with her book at all her tour stops and interviews.  She'll also be representing us a bit at conference of feminists in April in Northern Virginia.  Her long range goal is to work on raising up a Women's Budget or Women's Economy as an alternative. The solutions her book offers are solutions WILPF has been promoting for years. War and funding war plays a big role in stealing funding for the poor and families. Rickey is all about helping women connect those dots!

Be sure to Pre-Register to join the call and connect with WILPF sisters across the US.
