April 13 - Town Council

Resources:

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the request of Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), a statewide test of emergency alerting systems will occur between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The Town of Sunnyvale will activate its outdoor warning sirens and its CivicReady emergency notification system to send phone calls, texts, and emails during this time.

This siren activation will replace Sunnyvale's usual monthly siren test.

Because jurisdictions across the region may participate in this test, you may receive more than one test alert on your phone during the testing window.

This will only be a test. No emergency action is required.

Testing helps ensure emergency alert systems function properly and allows agencies to evaluate how alerts are delivered during real emergencies.

To sign up for Sunnyvale's emergency alert system, visit our CivicReady page.

Charter Amendment Election

Voter Registration Deadline: April 2

Sunnyvale voters will consider a slate of proposed Town Charter amendments on May 2. Many of these updates would bring the Charter into compliance with State law updates, address any legal or administrative issues, and improve the effective application of the Charter to current conditions.

The proposed amendments include the creation of a Parks and Recreation Board and the requirement for a Library Board, which currently exists.

The proposed amendments also include term limits for the Mayor and Town Council members and would change the Mayor's term from two years to three years.

To vote in the May 2 election, voters must be registered by Thursday, April 2, 2026. Early voting will begin on Monday, April 20 and run through Tuesday, April 28.

For more information about the Charter Amendment election, visit the Town Secretary's page on the website.

These photos are featured on the Town and Animal Shelter Facebook pages. Please vote for your favorite photo by hitting "Like" or "Love" on the individual photos in the post. Voting is open through Tuesday, March 31. The winning photo will be announced on Wednesday, April 1 - No JOKE!!

We Love Lolly!

Meet your new best friend, Lolly! She is a three-year-old female Calico Cat. Lolly came to us as a stray. During her time at the Shelter, she’s shown just how incredibly sweet and affectionate she is. She absolutely adores people and will happily curl up in your lap for hours, soaking up all the love and attention you’re willing to give. She enjoys playtime with her favorite kitty toys and has a fun, gentle personality that makes her a joy to be around. If you’re looking for a loving, laid-back companion who will stick by your side and brighten your days, she may be the perfect match.

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to welcome a new member, we currently have many adoptable pets in our shelter looking for a loving home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
