Share Your Story as OVF Prepares for Its 20-Year Anniversary

Twenty years of innovation, collaboration, and community are worth celebrating! As OVF looks ahead to its next chapter, we are inviting the people who helped shape our first chapter to provide a short quote or short story about your experience with OVF. Additional details here.

How it all Began

Instead of competing with larger VCs, we asked a different question: How can we build a better fund for founders and investors? Let's go do that!

20 years ago, OVF pioneered several industry practices:

- An annual fund structure
- A regional focus in a 2
nd tier market
- A collaborative model involving 180 successful entrepreneurs who are both investors and venture partners.

While these ideas have since spread across the US and globe, OVF remains the only firm to celebrate a 10X fund return by offering investors and founders free ice cream and beer for life. How did it all start, and what challenges did we face along the way?

PORTFOLIO NEWS

NLM Photonics Deepens Its Bench of Deep Tech Investors

NLM Photonics recently added Pangaea Ventures and Mitsubishi Chemical's Diamond Edge Ventures to its cap table, with existing backers (including OVF) doubling down, too. The round fuels NLM's push to scale its organic photonics materials for AI data centers and next-gen optical interconnects. As OVF partner, Deepthi Madhava put it: "NLM has evolved from a promising technology into a business with real commercial momentum and world-class strategic partners." More in the press release.

Digs Secures Major Backing from Building Materials Leader

Vancouver-based Digs has landed a $25M growth financing, and this one's really notable because of who wrote the check: Builders FirstSource. The largest building materials supplier in the country is the sole Series A lead and is also entered into a 5-year commercial partnership to weave Digs' AI platform into its ecosystem for 140,000 homebuilder clients. Founder Ryan Fink [pictured right with co-founder Ty Frackiewicz] calls it a "CarFax for the home." The round brings the company's total funding past $47M as it plans to double headcount by year end.
