This week, my thoughts are with Los Angeles, a city I called home for two decades and where I continue to collaborate with artists, art organizations, galleries, curators, and collectors. The devastating fires have displaced many in the creative community, destroying homes, studios, and precious collections of art that represent lifetimes of work and cultural heritage. I’ve heard firsthand from friends and colleagues who are evacuating or facing heartbreaking losses.
The resilience of the artistic community is undeniable, but moments like these remind us of the fragility of creative ecosystems. As we admire art here in Houston, let us also extend our support to those affected in Los Angeles, whether through donations, amplifying their stories, or simply holding space for their recovery.
Amid these challenges, I’m reminded of the importance of celebrating the art and culture that connect us all. In this week’s newsletter, you’ll find opportunities to engage with Houston’s vibrant art scene, a testament to the power of creativity to unite and inspire.
Sending strength to my friends in LA and gratitude to our community here in Houston. If you need recommendations on how to help artists in Los Angeles, contact me.
