Message from the Director of Enrollment

At Saint Joe, we believe every student has gifts worth discovering and potential worth developing. That belief is at the heart of this school year's theme: Reach Higher.

Reaching higher means challenging ourselves academically, growing more deeply in faith, using our talents to serve others, and having the courage to pursue new opportunities. It does not mean every student follows the same path. It means each student is supported and encouraged to become the person God is calling them to be.

For prospective families, September is the perfect time to begin imagining what reaching higher could look like at Saint Joe. Applications for the Class of 2031 are now open, and our fall admissions events offer many opportunities to experience our community firsthand.

We hope this issue helps you take the next step toward discovering where your student can learn, belong, and reach higher.

All the best,

Dr. Nadia Ewing '99

Director of Enrollment

Happenings Around Saint Joe

Faith in Action: The Saint Joe Diaper Drive

On September 4, Saint Joseph High School students put their Catholic faith into action through the annual Diaper Drive, coordinated by the Right to Life Club to benefit the Women’s Care Center.

Together, the Saint Joe community collected an incredible 50,789 diapers for local families in need. Seniors Isabelle Futa and Addy DePauw served as co-chairs for the second consecutive year, helping lead their fellow students in this meaningful service project. The Right to Life Club is co-moderated by Director of Pastoral Ministry Christine Baglow and teacher Chris Culver.

Following the collection, students formed a human chain stretching from Saint Joseph High School to the Women’s Care Center, passing the donated diapers from one student to the next. More than a practical way to deliver donations, the human chain is a powerful symbol of the caring and responsibility that Jesus calls us to create as we care for one another.

For a Catholic school, this is at the heart of our mission: recognizing the God-given dignity of every human life and responding to the needs of our neighbors with compassion and love. Through the Diaper Drive, students learn that living their faith means more than just belief; it means putting that faith into action.

For our donors, this is the kind of impact your support makes possible. You help create an environment where students are formed in faith, compassion, service and the intellectual knowledge to build a better and more caring community.

Students Shine Inside the Classroom

Congratulations to John Morin, Theodore Christensen, Lia Bajuyo, and Catherine Lutz on being named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Less than 1% of high school seniors across the country receive this distinction.

Students recently came together for Aidan’s Masterpiece Parking Spot Painting. The student-designed artwork was created in memory of Aidan Short, Ahmad and Saleem Qasem, and Beverly Ditsch. This is a beautiful reflection of the lives and memories we carry with us while also connecting to this year’s core value, Reach Higher.

Students in Mrs. Gergely'sPLTW Principles of Biomedical Science classes recently put their investigative skills to the test using Vernier Graphical Analysis equipment to conduct polygraph tests as part of their Anna Garcia crime scene investigation. Students answered a series of appropriate true-or-false questions while their physiological responses were monitored, creating plenty of laughs and a few nervous reactions along the way.

Saint Joe Athletics Update

Meet the Coaches Night Success

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Meet the Coaches Night. We had a packed room of prospective families, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to learn more about our Athletic programs and hear directly from our coaching staff. Go Huskies!

Girls Flag Football Wins Big on Senior Night

Girls Flag Football got a big win on Thursday night, beating Jimtown 37-6 on Senior Night. Senior quarterback Myla Blazejewski threw for 226 yds and 5 touchdowns, on a night when she crossed the 3,000 passing yard mark for her career. Malone Martin caught two of the touchdown passes, while seniors Addie Dees, Karli Brooke, and Evolette Williams each had one. Senior center Payton Wulf led the team with 7 receptions.

On defense, the Huskies pulled down four interceptions, with 2 from Maddie Smith, one from Kate Marie Kozel, and a pick six from senior Peyton Hopkins. Twelve different Huskies had a tackle in the game.

The Huskies play NIC rival New Prairie on Monday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m., at home

This week, our students walked into a completely overhauled weight room: 12 new racks, benches, and bars creating a safer, stronger space to train, grow, and reach higher.

Gifts to the Fund for Saint Joseph made this transformation possible, giving our school the flexibility to invest where our students need it most. Performance Director Scott Pherson and our student-athletes are building more than strength. They’re building a culture!
