Recruiting Our Newest CRSJ Lions!

Last weekend, Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School (CRSJ) opened our doors to over 70 families for our annual Open House! Prospective students and families participated in on-campus tours, met with educators, and enjoyed some fun and games hosted by student clubs. Special thanks to our Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) partners Google, ServiceNow, and The Tech Interactive for describing examples of the unique professional opportunities that CRSJ students can take advantage of. We thank our Senior Director of Strategy, Talent, and Enrollment Andrea Duwel and Admissions Coordinator Paola Carrasco for coordinating this event! If you know of students who may benefit from a Cristo Rey education, please share information from our website or have them contact admissions@cristoreysj.org.

SVBJ 2024 Corporate Community Impact Award: Palo Alto Networks

CRSJ had the honor of attending the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s (SVBJ) 2024 Corporate Philanthropy Awards, where we proudly nominated Palo Alto Networks (PAN) for the Community Impact Award.

In accepting the award, Kumar Ramachandran, President of Network Security at PAN and CRSJ Board member commented, “What Cristo Rey does besides the phenomenal education they (provide) is this Corporate Work Study Program in which many companies in different industries host the students at work…their eyes open up to the kind of possibilities (out there).”

A special thanks also to CRSJ Board Member Catherine Portman (VP, Treasurer at PAN) and the entire team at PAN for their commitment to creating brighter futures for our students and their families!

SVBJ 2024 Corporate Philanthropy Award:

Sobrato Philanthropies

Congratulations to one of our long-time funding partners, Sobrato Philanthropies, for once again winning the top Corporate Philanthropy Award! As the SVBJ article described for the past nine out of 10 years, it has been Sobrato Philanthropies that has led the way in generously supporting Bay Area nonprofit organizations and causes. A big thank you to the Sobrato Family for their tremendous leadership in helping our communities. In particular, we are deeply grateful for our Founding Co-Chair John Sobrato, for his vision of creating pathways to opportunity through educational access for the underserved.

Día de los Muertos and All Saints' Day

Last week, Fr. Joe Kraemer, S.J. joined our community for a beautiful school-wide liturgy celebrating Día de los Muertos and All Saints’ Day. We honor and remember the lives of our loved ones who have passed along with holy individuals recognized by the Church. As part of his homily, Fr. Kraemer encouraged students, “Your stories are just the beginning, and if you always try to keep God at the center of them, you will, one day, like the saints, live into the great dream God has for all of you!”

Year-End Reminders: Take Advantage of Tax Benefits with Charitable Gifts

You, our CRSJ donors, are a force for good! Did you know you can support our students while saving money on taxes? Consider time-sensitive, year-end giving opportunities that will enable the dreams of students and families. Check with your tax advisor for specifics on your situation but you might consider tax-advantaged, non-cash ways to give, whether it's appreciated stock, from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF), or a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA.

Please note that although our offices will be closed from December 23rd through January 5th, you can email us at advancement@cristoreysj.org with any questions. If you mail a check, it must be dated and postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before December 31, 2024 to qualify for a tax deduction this year. Please make a check to Cristo Rey San José Jesuit High School and mail it to:
