COVID-19 Testing in the El Camino Healthcare District
We am pleased to announce that  El Camino Healthcare District (ECHD) is offering free COVID-19 testing for adults and children who live, work or go to school in the healthcare district .

COVID-19 testing is available  now  on our Mountain View campus. In the coming weeks, we’ll be bringing testing to additional sites in the District including Sunnyvale and Los Altos.

Things to know:

  • Tests must be scheduled by calling (650) 940-7022, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4 pm.
  • The test involves a painless (not deep), easy and quick nasal swab sample that you take on yourself while being supervised by a laboratory professional.
  • A doctor’s order is not required.
  • This program is for healthy individuals who do not have symptoms of COVID-19 and but would like a test for their own peace of mind. It also helps us understand the level of asymptomatic COVID-19 infection in the community. (If a person has symptoms, they can call us and we will refer them to appropriate medical care)
  • The test determines if you are positive for COVID-19 on the day of the test. It does not determine if you had a COVID-19 infection in the past.
  • The visit and test will cost you nothing. If you don’t have insurance, the test is free. If you have health insurance, we can submit to your insurance—all public and private insurance is required by law to cover COVID-19 testing. You will not be billed and any out-of-pocket costs will be paid for by this District program.
  • Results are available in 2-3 days, through a confidential online portal or mailed to your home, whichever you prefer.
  • Positive results are given by telephone by a physician or nurse so next steps for quarantine and care can be discussed.

At the time of testing, people are asked to sign a form attesting that they  live, work or go to school  within District boundaries. Proof is not required. We don’t ask or care about immigration status.
To check if a home, work or school address is in the El Camino Healthcare District, see the SCC Registrar of Voters website  here  and then click on “Look Up Your Districts” in the left column.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Prepare for Fire Season and Public Safety Power Shutoffs
As we go into the summer months and the start of fire season, it’s a great time to review your family’s emergency communications plan, evacuation plan, and preparedness supplies to live without power for a few days. Start with these easy steps:

  • Update your contact information with PG&E:   Pacific Gas & Electric will send out notifications when a Public Safety Power Shutoff event could impact your home or business. Visit pge.com/mywildfirealerts or call 1-866-743-6589 to update your contact information. If you’re not a PG&E account holder, you can sign up for ZIP Code alerts.  This is especially useful for tenants, caretakers, travelers, parents of school-age children and other non-account holders. The system allows you to select the ZIP Code(s) that you want to receive PSPS notifications for. Notifications are not address-specific as they are only based on the ZIP Code provided.
  • Those who are interested in ZIP Code notifications can sign up for voice or text message alerts by calling 1-877-9000-PGE or texting “ENROLL” to 97633. More information about the tool is available at pge.com/pspszipcodealerts.
  • Update your contact information with AlertSCC:  Make sure that your entire family is registered with the Santa Clara County emergency notification system, AlertSCC. If you’re already registered, check your contact information to make sure that your email, mobile phone, and other contacts are correct. Sign up here!
  • Create or update your family communication plan to stay in touch during an event. For a template, visit us online here!
  • Make (or update) a “Go Bag” with basic supplies, important papers, and communication devices. For a list of what to include and view examples, visit losaltosca.gov/gobag And, visit PG&E’s website to get additional tips.

If you have special energy needs due to qualifying medical conditions, sign up for  PG&E’s Medical Baseline Program . (Due to COVID-19, customers may self-certify; no doctor note required at this time.) You’ll receive extra notifications in advance of a Public Safety Power Shutoff, as well as a lower rate on your monthly energy bill.
