JRB FINANCIAL PULSE

May 2026 — Issue #96

A Word from the CEO

Last week, I had the privilege of attending a beautiful commencement ceremony at The Jewish Theological Seminary. Seeing these earnest and enthusiastic graduates begin this next chapter was truly inspiring. A moment like this underscores the vital role the JRB plays in supporting the financial well-being of those who dedicate their careers to serving our Movement.

The Conservative Movement created the JRB to help those working within the Movement, both clergy and non-clergy, build financial security and retire with dignity. What does that mean today?

A recent survey by Northwestern Mutual found that many Americans believe they will need more than $1 million, on average, to retire comfortably. That may sound like a large number, but with time, consistency, and disciplined saving, it is achievable. Our article, Pay Yourself First: A Path Toward $1 Million in Retirement Savings, shows how starting early, increasing contributions over time, and paying yourself first through a salary reduction agreement can make a meaningful difference.

Our second article looks at a fundamental investing concept: the difference between active and passive fund management. Understanding how each approach works, and where each fits, can help you build a more thoughtful, balanced portfolio.

The JRB offices have moved. While our mailing address has changed, our email address, phone and fax numbers remain the same.

Finally, Andrew Jabar and I will attend the 2026 Cantors Assembly Convention in Pittsburgh from June 7–11. We will address the Convention and hold personal financial consultations. You can sign up at the conference registration desk or contact us directly by email or phone.

If you would like to discuss how to build toward meaningful retirement savings, how to balance actively and passively managed funds in your portfolio, or to review your financial plan, please reply to this email or call 888-JRB-FREE (572-3733).
