Week of January 28 - February 1, 2019
“The safety of our students is our highest priority."
Door County Sheriff Tammy Sternard and District Attorney Colleen Nordin
Door County Superintendents

Dear Southern Door Community,
School districts and local law enforcement have been working collaboratively on specialized school safety training and common communication strategies. This past Monday, a letter from superintendents, sheriff, and the district attorney was sent out electronically to all families in the five Door County school districts. Please click on this link to access this important letter. A hard copy of this letter will be enclosed in the middle and high school semester report cards mailed next week. The letter will also be mailed to any elementary families who do not have children in the middle and high schools.

Though school officials, the sheriff's department, and the district attorney can do everything they can to keep schools safe, it also comes down to how all students, parents, and community handle situations around them. We need everyone to take school safety seriously and take responsibility for things they might encounter. "If you see something, hear something, or witness something, say something!" If you become aware of a safety issue during the school day, please call one of our school district offices. If after hours, please don't wait and call 911, if an emergency or (920) 746-2400, if a non-emergency.

It is important for us to work together to serve our overall families, children, and community. With your time, attention, and support regarding this important issue, we can remain Eagle Strong!

Change the World  World Read Aloud Day, February 1
Every year, on World Read Aloud Day, people all around the globe read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy as a human right that belongs to all people. Reading and learning should be a positive experience for all children. Sharing your child’s favorite book or your favorite book helps to engage and stimulate kids’ creativity, cultivate a love of reading and writing, and ultimately achieve successful, academic outcomes. If you don’t have a regular routine of reading aloud to your child, now is the perfect time to start!

Over the course of the play, Sister goes from benevolent instructor, rewarding the “students” for correct answers with glow-in the dark rosaries and laminated saint cards, to authoritative drill sergeant.

Tickets can be purchased online @ http: www.southerndoorauditorium.org
Adults $15, Seniors $12, Youth $8.00
