The vision of Weld County’s Early Childhood Council (WCECC) is to create an environment where all children are valued, healthy, and thriving; the mission is to be a community partnership that increases the awareness of the importance of early childhood development and facilitates accessible pathways of services leading to lifelong well-being for all children prenatal to eight years of age. The last few month of the year lead me to reflection of the past months and what the new year might bring. This work can not be done alone.
I am grateful for the early childhood workforce in our community that are the foundation for parents and children. I am delighted for partner agencies that advocate and provide services as well, not all counties are so lucky. I am thankful for the Reading Great by 8 staff and United Way who are committed daily to advocate and provide services to support children entering kindergarten ready to learn and reading proficient by the time they start 4th grade.
Start off your year with our 18 month school readiness calendar for families or caregivers of 3-5 year olds. It is packed full of activities and resources to support child development before the child enters school. It is available in English and Spanish. To request your copy or copies email RGby8@UnitedWay-Weld.org, requested calendar need to be picked up at 814 9th Street, during normal business hours.
This quote some sums it up, “The more you participate in our common endeavors, the more successful your work in the factory, mine, 1716951 wharf or village, in an economic institute or in the arts, in commerce or administration, the sooner we will be where we all want to be.” Walter Ulbright
Have a safe, healthy and warm holiday season.
