Voices for Justice in Palestine
hosts Rabbi David Cooper,
co-founder of the East Bay's Kehilla Community Synagogue
speaking on
"Zionism and Its Jewish Discontents"
During the 20th century, the creation of a Jewish state was never a consensus position among leading Jews. There were many Israeli, European, and Israeli Jews who opposed the formation of a Jewish
nation-state as a solution to antisemitism.
Albert Einstein and Hannah Arendt were among those prominent Jewish leaders opposed to a "Jewish state". They sought a binational state with equality between Arabs and Jews. Even some Jews who regarded themselves as Zionists (but who might not be regarded as such today) opposed the formation of a Jewish state within Palestine. While this history is mostly disregarded today, the ominous warnings of these dissenters have proven accurate, as seen in the continuing inhumane treatment of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Suggested readings/videos/podcasts (not found in MSM!)
The Palestinian people continue to resist the inhuman Israeli occupation and genocide, turning art and culture into spaces of memory, dignity, and hope.
"On 29 September 2025, around 9 am, a pregnant woman, aged 19, was screaming when entering the maternity ward at Gaza City’s Al-Sahaba Medical Complex"
"The United Nations Security Council on Monday adopted a resolution that gives the world body’s imprimatur to Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza, a territory he said publicly should be ethnically cleansed to develop a Mediterranean resort."
"The Canary Mission, a pro-Israel website, first appeared in the spring of 2015 with a series of online attacks on undergraduate student activists who had spoken out about the violation of Palestinian human rights. In the past decade, it has evolved from an anonymous website to a state-influencing actor, exemplifying the transformation of online doxxing into a geopolitical tool of transnational surveillance. Its reach extends from student protests to immigration detention cells, and two successive United States governments have used its content to identify, detain, deport, and intimidate pro-Palestinian activists."

World BEYOND War has
a DIVESTMENT campaign!
About the Campaign
Grassroots-led war divestment campaigns are springing up all over the world, from students organizing to divest university endowments, to municipalities and states coming together to divest public pension funds. Divestment means organizing to remove public and private assets from weapons manufacturers, military contractors, and war profiteers.
Public pension and retirement funds especially are often invested, directly and indirectly, in weapons companies. Teachers and other public servants whose interests lie with promoting human needs have their retirement security tied up with maintaining or enlarging the war industry. Every dollar currently invested in weapons and war is a dollar that could be better spent on job creation, education, housing, healthcare, food security, and so much more.
War profiteering is largely normalized today. We’re working to stigmatize the war machine. World BEYOND War assists divestment campaigns led by our chapters, affiliates, other coalitions, and individuals around the world.
