Spring Time at South Central LAMP

Dear Friends,

This week marks a year of living through a pandemic. It has been a challenging time for many, but it has also been a time to reflect on what’s important and what brings us joy.

At South Central LAMP, we recognize that this time period has been challenging, but it’s also been a great time to approach the work we do in an unconventional manner. While our activities have looked different, the joy they provide has not changed! As you can see below, we continued with our traditional events but with a twist! These activities gave moms and kids a moment to just enjoy themselves. It allowed them moments that did not include pandemic worry – it gave them a sense of semi-normalcy that during this time, is such a welcomed gift.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this joy! We could not do any of this without your support!
Spotlight Moment
There have been countless acts of love in the recent weeks at South Central LAMP. We would like to take the opportunity to shine the spotlight on some of our special donors. Thank you St. Martin of Tours, St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church’s Project Response and Mayfield Senior School Alumnae students and families for donating food pantry items, gift cards, diapers and wipes. On behalf of the mothers and children we serve, we thank you for your selfless acts of kindness.
Read Across America
We celebrated Read Across America by participating in a school-wide read aloud event via Zoom. Our teachers read a page from their favorite bilingual picture book because we know that this helps build vocabulary at a young age. The children loved it so much that they began to make heart signals to show their teachers some zoom love. 
International Women's Day

This year, we celebrated International Women's Day by gathering virtually while proudly wearing our new "Amazing Woman" t-shirts, to celebrate one another with words of affirmation.
Upcoming Important Events
LA BIG 5K
Help promote change through education by joining and supporting South Central LAMP’s LA Big 5K Virtual Run/Walk on Saturday, November 6th! More information will follow in the upcoming months.
Virtual Fundraiser Event
Join South Central LAMP for our second annual virtual fundraiser event from June 11th - 14th. We will have amazing items available for auction. Surely, there will be something fun for everyone!
