Match Day Success! Congratulations to the Class of 2025 on this incredible milestone! On March 21, Florida Atlantic's fourth-year medical students joined peers nationwide for Match Day, a momentous occasion where they learned where they will train for residency. At noon, they opened their sealed envelopes to discover where they will fulfill their dreams of medical residency training.

Your hard work and dedication have paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder. Wishing you success and fulfillment in this next chapter of your medical careers!

Los Angeles Fire Relief Fundraiser – A Success!

Our medical students Akshay Tangutur and Samira Alwahabi led a successful Los Angeles Fire Relief Fundraiser, and we are grateful for their efforts! Thanks to our incredible College of Medicine community, we raised over $2,000, with 100% of proceeds donated to LA STRONG – Support Wildfire Relief Efforts.

A special thank you to everyone who helped spread the word through emails, social media, and campus screens—your support made a difference. This cause was especially meaningful as 15% of our medical students are from California, representing half of our out-of-state student population.Thank you for your generosity!

American Academy of Dermatology

Rebecca Urbonas, M3, attended the 2025 American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. She also participated in the Society for Pediatric Dermatology Pre-AAD Meeting and the Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS) Annual Meeting and Luncheon, where former Florida Atlantic faculty and mentor Latanya Benjamin, M.D., completed her term as WDS president!

Research Distinction Track

Talia Fradkin, M4, has been awarded a Distinction in Research for her work with mentor Rainald Schmidt-Kastner, M.D. on solute carrier proteins and the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Staff Highlights

ChildNet Care for Kids Luncheon

Michael Turtz, Director of Administration, attended the ChildNet, Inc. Care for Kids Luncheon on behalf of the Schmidt College of Medicine. ChildNet supports vulnerable children and foster families in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

He attended alongside representatives from Synovus Bank and the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice, including Julio Roque (Synovus), Douglas Roberts (Synovus), and Marianna Colvin, Ph.D. (College of Social Work and Criminal Justice).

Future Mind - Mindfest 2025 Conference

Michael Dobbs, M.D., Jill Goldstein, George Tarantino, and Michael Turtz presented a poster titled "Artificial Intelligence Chatbot and Low CSF Pressure Headaches Decision-Making" at the Center for the Future Mind - Mindfest 2025 Conference at Florida Atlantic University.
