Follow Fall Across Burke County
Fall color doesn’t arrive all at once in Burke County—it begins along the highest ridges of Linville Gorge before rolling down the mountainsides toward Lake James, Morganton, Valdese and the foothills. Use our new Fall Color Map to see the typical peak-color windows by elevation and choose the best time for a scenic drive, autumn hike or weekend getaway. Remember, weather can shift the timing each year, so plan for a window rather than a single day—and get ready to follow fall across Burke County!
