Newest Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Youth Preparedness Council Member
FEMA recently named Nico Bremeau to join their Youth Preparedness Council for a two-year appointment. A Los Altos resident, Nico is a sophomore at Mountain View High School, and is currently working on his Eagle Scout project sponsored by the
Los Altos PREPARES program
.
The FEMA Youth Preparedness Council (YPC) provides a unique opportunity for youth leaders to serve on a highly distinguished national Council. Members educate their local communities about the importance of emergency preparedness, as well as motivating preparedness on a national scale through conferences, public events, small-group discussions, social media, news stories, and articles, etc. The twelve YPC members regularly meet with FEMA and its partners to share their insights and opinions on youth preparedness efforts and initiatives. They work on national-level preparedness projects and attend an annual YPC Summit.
Please join us in congratulating Nico on being selected for the Youth Preparedness Council. We look forward to his work in our community over the next two years!

Over the last couple of weeks, the Los Altos community has banded together to bring light to a time of darkness. Mayor Jan Pepper concluded her recent letter to the community, "Los Altos, we are strong, and we will get this through together." We wholeheartedly believe that. The City is encouraging participation in various campaigns that we hope will bring comfort, happiness, and smiles. So, our neighbors know you are not alone, and we will get through this together.
