November has come and gone - just like that! Welcome to DECEMBER Optimists! A few years ago, our grandson Cavin was spending the night, and he happened to wake up VERY early in the morning. He went into our bedroom and woke his "Kenbo" whispering to him all he wanted to do was go outside and play in the backyard.

The Optimist Club of the Year Deadline is December 31, 2021

Whether we will be talking about how to start a JOI Club, or community service tips, or just having fun, each meeting will be full of information for you to use with your Clubs. My International Board and I would love to invite you to this event. Everyone is welcome to attend. All Members, Club and District Officers are encouraged to attend. This includes Junior Members and Optimist Members. The information will be vital to both JOI and OI. These meetings are for you to share your ideas, questions and Club accomplishments. This unique forum will allow JOI Members all over the world to come together on a monthly basis to share their thoughts.

Junior Optimist Golf

The 2021 Optimist Tournament of Champions

Optimist Junior Golf celebrated its 17^th Anniversary of the Optimist Tournament of Champions November 13-14, 2021 at PGA National Resort and Spa. This is an invitational junior golf championship for previous participants of Optimist Junior Golf events and other top junior golfers. We had 149 participants representing 15 Countries, 24 States and 2 Provinces. The tournament assembled some of the world’s most talented young competitors - many of whom possess the potential to become leading collegiate and professional players.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the help of our volunteers and the District and Clubs who support our golfers. Click here for final results Results

Optimist Scholarship and Exemption Opportunity to be Awarded to Five Junior Golfers

Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the 2022 Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Team. Awards will recognize the academic and community service accomplishments of five junior golfers.

Those selected receive an exemption into the 2022 Optimist Championship, tournament entry (includes golf, hotel accommodations and meals and a $1,000 scholarship)

Deadline date April 1, 2022

Passing of Past President Mark Shriver (2009 - 2010)

Optimists around the world fondly remember former Optimist International President Mark Shriver who passed away recently. Mark served as International President in 2009 - 2010 and led efforts to start the Internet Safety Program. He also promoted our current governance system in order to bring more continuity of leadership to the organization. Mark was a respected leader and a talented attorney who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
