The Christmas Ships are Coming - Will YOU Join Us This Year?

Christmas Ships Season is coming!

Join us!!

Now is a great time to join the longest continuously operating illuminated boat parade in the US.

It’s our 70th year and we start parading on December 5, 2024, with the Combined Fleet parading by the Vancouver Waterfront. Join the opening celebration of Christmas Ships parade and stick around for the rest of the season – you will be hooked! This is a great opportunity to parade at night in vastly different conditions than you are used to, safely!, while learning new skills, becoming more confident, and joining a new boat family! Join us for one night or multiple nights, it’s totally up to your schedule, but you do have to SIGN UP prior to SHOWING UP. Read the New Skipper Information at Christmas Ships-New Skipper Info

Congratulations for your involvement with CRYA and for your energy and enthusiasm for the Oregon waterfront we all love.

CRYA and WOOO are sister organizations supporting each other and synergizing off our common efforts. Doug Romjue and I both agreed the relationship was so important we made two positions on the WOOO Board for the CRYA Exec Director and the President.

We are preparing our slate of Director candidates for election at our Annual Meeting and Dinner 11/2 5pm at CRYC to which you are welcome to attend. The meeting and dinner are exceptional and a great way to meet others from parts of the waterfront you might not meet otherwise.

Let us know if you or someone you know would love to participate in a lot of discussions and decisions that affect our waterfront by being a WOOO Director or participating on one of our workgroups. Some of the issues we are addressing are DSL dredging permit rates and rules, DSL submerged lands lease rates and rules, legislative oversight, social and more. But let us know soon as we need to formalize the slate of candidates.

We are proud to have several of our member yacht club's representatives on our WOOO Board including:

Randy Phillips Columbia River Yacht Club

Harry Braunstein Portland Yacht Club

Bob Wilson Tyee Yacht Club

We are thankful for the contributions of these and all Directors and workgroup members and know that our synergy can make the Oregon waterfront an even better place to live, work and recreate. Come join us!

See you on November 2!

Best regards,

Ron Schmidt

We can't see every club's internal communication, but we have to think some of the articles would be great information for all boaters. If you find that article of interest, please forward it to cryanews@gmail.com after getting approval to share. We can all be more informed.
