As mergers and acquisitions – including the recently announced purchase of @properties by Compass – reshape the residential real estate landscape, independent brokerages such as Taylor Johnson client Baird & Warner see an opportunity to stand out in a “sea of sameness.” In this era of unprecedented industry consolidation, independence still matters and is worth preserving, argues Baird & Warner President and CEO Steve Baird in a recent op-ed TJ secured in Inman. In the resulting column, Baird highlights the value of local expertise and leadership from independent brokerages like Baird & Warner, which can trace its family-owned roots in Chicago back to 1855. “While our industry was founded on the idea of ‘location, location, location,’ the distance between the C-suites of some brokerages and the markets they serve has, ironically, never been further,” Baird contends.
