Cribs for Kids Launches the Safe Sleep Building Blocks Mini Grant Program in Partnership with JPMA Cares and Safe Kids Worldwide

Cribs for Kids® is thrilled to announce the launch of the Safe Sleep Building Blocks Grant Program, a nationwide initiative in partnership with JPMA Cares and Safe Kids Worldwide. This program is designed to break down barriers to safe sleep education by providing essential resources to organizations in underserved communities across the country.

Through this collaboration, Cribs for Kids®, JPMA Cares, and Safe Kids Worldwide are joining forces to equip organizations with the tools and education needed to support families and caregivers in making safe sleep decisions for their babies. By addressing the challenges faced by Safe Kids Coalition Members and like-minded organizations, this grant program will help expand the reach of safe sleep education and ensure that more families have access to life-saving resources.

We are excited to work together to create a future where every baby sleeps safely. We encourage our partners to explore this opportunity and help spread the word about this important program.

Apply before April 30th, 2025 and join us in making a lasting impact in communities nationwide.

Modeling Safe Sleep: The Power of Images

As parents and caregivers navigate the digital world, they are bombarded with images of babies sleeping in unsafe positions, images that can inadvertently encourage dangerous practices. To help change this, it’s essential that we model safe sleep behaviors through the images we share.

When parents and caregivers see safe sleep being practiced and modeled, it reinforces the importance of following safe sleep guidelines. It’s vital that we lead by example and provide accurate visual resources that educate and inspire confidence in safe sleep practices.

At Cribs for Kids®, we’ve created a Flickr album full of safe sleep images that can be freely shared across social media. These images are a great resource for promoting safe sleep practices and ensuring that the right message is being communicated to families. Let’s work together to change the narrative and show parents what safe sleep looks like.

Spotlight on the National Public Safety Initiative: Saving Lives, One Crib at a Time

Cribs for Kids® is proud to offer the National Public Safety Initiative (NPSI), a program dedicated to partnering with public safety agencies and first responders in the fight to reduce infant deaths and injuries caused by unsafe sleep environments.

Sudden Unexplained Infant Death (SUID) which includes both Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Accidental Suffocation and Strangulation in Bed (ASSB) remains the leading cause of infant mortality in the U.S. before a baby reaches their first birthday. The way to prevent these deaths is by following safe sleep recommendations.

Through the NPSI, Cribs for Kids® works directly with first responders, law enforcement, medical examiners, and other public safety professionals to ensure that infants have access to safe sleep environments. First responders often encounter unsafe situations long before social service agencies can step in. By identifying families who lack safe sleep products, they can help prevent unnecessary tragedies and ensure babies have the safe sleep they need.

This partnership is a powerful tool in our shared mission to reduce infant deaths. Together, we can make a real difference, one crib at a time.

Partner Spotlight: SIDS of Illinois Hits the Road with the Safe Sleep Message

We’re excited to feature SIDS of Illinois, who just took their safe sleep message to the next level by wrapping their van with safe sleep messaging! This creative move allows them to reach even more families on the highway and while out and about, spreading the critical message of safe sleep far and wide.

In the photo, Nancy Maruyama RN, BSN, NCBF, Executive Director of SIDS of Illinois, is shown packing the van with Cribettes, part of their ongoing efforts to provide safe sleep products to families in need. Already, they’ve distributed 250 Cribettes this year, making a huge impact on infant safety in their community.

We’re thrilled to partner with organizations like SIDS of Illinois, who are going above and beyond to ensure every baby has a safe place to sleep!
