Week of March 18-22, 2019
"Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all we can be." Ziglar

Dear Southern Door Community,
What a great turnout we had this past week for the First Annual S.T.E.A.M. Family Night! Parents and grandparents were amazed at what the kids are learning, and what experiences they have now in our school in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math! A special thank you to Therma-Tron-X, for having their staff here with an engaging water display, as well as their donation of four fabulous door prizes to add to the ones donated by PIE. Elementary has another big week coming up with the Grades K-4 Spring Concert on Thursday and Friday at 1pm. We hope to see many of you there! Their show is certain to put some “spring” in your heart!

A wonderful weekend is ahead as celebrate our youth! Our students are not only talented, but always represent our school so well. Good luck to the SD swimmers on the YMCA team headed to state this weekend.  Kudos to our music department and the Music Boosters, for once again hosting the district level Solo & Ensemble competition followed by, for some, the advancement to State. Our forensics team is also in its advanced competition now.

Please join us next week in extending a special "thank you" to our Southern Door buildings & grounds crew: Dan Viste, director; and Marci Boulanger, Roy Dufek, Barb Enigl-Simon, Mark Jandrin, Russ Kallin, Jay Schukow, Mike Schartner, and Phil Simon. We get so many compliments from others on their customer service and their work. "The quiet heroes of our school who keep our facilities looking like new; Always the first to arrive on the site and make sure that lots, sidewalks, and classrooms are ready and right; Clean up messes that no one else dares to touch; Handles safety, first aid, fixing things, and such; Befriending everyone who passes by - all with a smile, a helping hand, and protecting us with a watchful eye!"

Even though the last quarter of school is the time with many academic and co-curricular celebrations, we know that the most gratifying time is realizing the changes in our students, and the growth they are making this year. Thank you to your continued partnerships with us to meet the needs of our students and families, as we strive to be Eagle Proud and Eagle Strong!
