Message from the Commodore
Just a quick note to say how fantastic it was to see so many friendly faces — new and old — at our opening weekend social on Saturday. What an incredible community we have! It was great to catch up with many of you and to have the pleasure of introducing the talented staff members who are running our programs this summer.
We're off to a tremendous start, with much more fun to come. Please read on for Sailing and Tennis updates, and for several fantastic (and fashionable!) ways you can support the SLYC, including through our annual golf tournament, which is now open for registration — see below and sign up today!
Hope you have a great Stony Lake weekend...

Register Now: SLYC Golf Tournament
The annual SLYC Golf Tournament is less than a month away! And the registration link is now live, so click the button below to sign up as soon as possible if you are keen to participate, as this event sells out quickly every year.

If you have any trouble registering, please contact Bethany Chittick by phone (705-654-SLYC [7592]), email (SLYCinfo@gmail.com) or in person at the Tennis Hut.
The Golf Tournament is SLYC’s biggest fundraising event and goes a long way in helping keep the cost of our programs affordable for young families on Stony Lake. Most of the proceeds come from the generosity of our sponsors. We have three Sponsorship levels, which include Bronze $500, Silver $1,000 and Gold $2,500.
This year's committee includes Louise Sugar, Dave Bart, Michelle Newton and Bethany Chittick. They will be reaching out by phone and/or email to sign people or businesses up for one of the sponsorship levels. We will generate a tax receipt for business donations and personal tax receipts through Tennis Canada or Sail Canada. Bethany can also help with the process of sponsorship.
We hope you can join us for the event, and thank you for considering being a sponsor as well.

Junior Sailing Update
We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the SLYC Junior Sailing season! From brand new Wet Feet to seasoned racers, we saw over 100 sailors step foot on Juniper in our first week.
Head Instructor Ellie Andersons and her talented staff pulled off weeks of planning to make Week 1 a success — boats were ready, swim tests were completed, lessons were taught, games were played and racers were flying spinnakers, all within the first couple of days. Twin Day and Pajama Day are our first two theme days, and we’ll make sure every sailor knows how to get involved to win major house points.

Adult Sailing is here
The kids shouldn’t be the ones who get to have all the fun, so please head over to the SLYC website and sign up for Adult Sailing. You can buy a two-, four- or six-evening package that can be used any Monday or Wednesday evening (5:30 - 7:30 PM), between July 11 to August 1.
Cottage Club is coming
We’re expecting close to 100 sailors from 7 clubs to descend upon SLYC on August 3 for the annual Cottage Club Regatta. The planning is well under way, but we’ll definitely need volunteers to help with billeting, food prep and more. All volunteers are welcome, and we’ll be sending specific requests to parents of our junior sailors.
Weekend racing
SLYC weekend racing starts July 9 and will run every Saturday and Sunday, starting at 1:00 PM. Weekend racing is for all skill levels and we encourage all racers to join the fun.
Wee-Boat Wednesday
We strongly encourage boat-pooling as it’s kinder to the environment and helps with docking congestion at Juniper. So remember, if you boat-pool on Wee-Boat Wednesday, you earn valuable house points!
Looking forward to more great days on the water…

Director, Junior Sailing

Tennis Update
There have been a couple of bumps in getting the program off the ground this year, but thank you to the tennis members for your patience and understanding. And thank you to so many of you who have made Peter, our new Head Pro, feel welcomed.
For any changes you would like to make to your tennis bookings, including changing clinic times or backing out of clinics, please use slyc.tennisbookings.com. I f you have run into any issues, please email Bethany or phone/visit the Tennis Hut.
Please note that we've made a number of changes to the tennis and pickleball schedules (see tables below), including:
- Addition of Privates with Peter at 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, Monday-Wednesday
- Pickleball for ages 10-11 on Tuesday and Thursday will now start at 2:00 PM, starting next Thursday, July 14
- Teen Drills has been switched to Monday-Wednesday at 5:00 PM and Thursday-Friday at 4:00PM, starting the week of July 17
We're going to be running the tennis tournaments this year, and are looking to start them on July 15. The sign-up sheets will be posted at the Tennis Hut. We will be aiming to have the finals played the weekend of July 30.
And please mark August 20 on your calendars, when we'll have 3-4 guest tennis pros at the club to run clinics during the day and then play a match in the late afternoon. More details to come.
See you on the courts...
