Dear Residents -

This week, the Orangetown Police Department arrested two individuals while they were retrieving packages of cash from a vacant home in town—money that had been obtained through various scams. Fortunately, the victims in this case will have their funds returned but sadly, most victims are not as fortunate.

Thank you to the Orangetown Police Department for their swift work in apprehending these individuals. Let this serve as an important reminder for all of us to remain vigilant about financial scams and to have conversations with elderly family and friends, who are often targeted.

There are several community clean-up events happening this weekend— one at the Sparkill Creek on Saturday and another in Piermont on Sunday. Please consider joining and lending a hand to keeping Orangetown beautiful.

Looking ahead to next weekend, there is going to be plenty to do. From Piermont to Pearl River, events will include the Piermont 5K, opening day of the Pearl River Farmers Market, the Pearl River Food Truck Festival, and “Putt for a Purpose,” supporting the Christopher Tucci Scholarship Fund. For details, see below.

Calling all Orangetown seniors: the 4th Annual Golden Gala will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 2 PM at the Rockland Gaelic Athletic Association (RGAA). It is $30 per person and will include live music by Tommy Dunn and Jan Lynch, delicious food from Luigi O’Grady’s, and a photo booth sponsored once again by Sharyn McTigue. What a great way to spend time with old friends and new ones! To RSVP, email creilly@orangetown.com.

Best of luck to SO BOTZ 6911, South Orangetown’s robotics team, as they compete at the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas. With more than 1,000 teams and 50,000 attendees from around the world, this is an incredible accomplishment.

Enjoy the weekend—I hope to see you out and about.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

As the Orangetown USA250 Grand Marshal, Supervisor Kenny was honored to attend the Recognition Ceremony, where all honorees were celebrated for their dedication to the 4th of July parade. Many thanks to Recognition Ceremony Committee members Marisa Marrone, Chris Johnson and John Lowry; Master of Ceremonies John McGowan; as well as The Old '76 House and their staff, for providing a delicious meal and wonderful desserts.

When you encounter a school bus:

  • Slow down. School buses make frequent stops, so be patient and drive at a reasonable speed. Remember, in addition to picking up and dropping off students, school buses are required by law to stop at railroad crossings.

  • Be alert. Always be aware of children and parents that may be waiting at a school bus stop or perhaps running to catch the bus before it departs.

  • Come to a complete stop at least 20 feet away from the bus.

  • Be extra careful to look around before moving your vehicle, as children may be walking in front of, behind, or on the side of school buses. Check for pedestrians - especially near schools, bus stops, playgrounds, parks, and behind parked cars.
