Park Improvements: Fence & Bollards!
TTF has been meeting with various stakeholders to address possible solutions to short dumping, especially of tires, in Tacony Creek Park.
In August, Parks & Recreation installed a new fence and bollards at Adams and Crescentville Avenues! The new gate and bollards will prevent vehicles from driving into the park to dump tires or construction debris. A new gate is on the way soon!

Park Improvements: Benches Repaired!
Thank you TCP Keeper, Eric, for fixing the nonfunctioning benches in Tacony Creek Park north of Roosevelt Boulevard.
We appreciate the time and skill Eric devoted to improve the park he loves. Amenities like benches are included in the Tacony Creek Park Master Plan. But that’s a while away, and we know park users would like to take a rest now! Eric led the repair of six benches in Tacony Creek Park. Next time you rest on one, remember to say thanks!

Park Improvements: No Swimming Signs
Water connects us. But swimming in our creeks and rivers is not safe, due to bacteria from Combined Sewage Overflows and objects like shopping carts underwater. Swimming in Tacony Creek can pose health and safety risks to you and your family.
That's why we installed several no-swimming signs throughout Tacony Creek Park. The bilingual signs serve as a reminder that it’s fine to admire the creek, but not to swim in its waters!
The signs say: Warning! No swimming. Creek may be polluted due to sewage and debris.
We believe that it's important for people to be informed about the health of the environment for many reasons. It's a critical step in the process to advocate for change. Neighbors deserve a clean creek and park, over 50 years after the passage of the Clean Water Act.

No nadar.

Park Improvements: Trash Cans!
Special thanks to Philadelphia Parks & Recreation for partnering with us to install 6 Community trash cans in the park near the following locations: Adams Avenue, Rising Sun Avenue, below East Tabor Road & East Olney Avenue, Bingham & East Ashdale Streets, below Roosevelt Boulevard & Rorer Street, and Fishers Lane. Tags us when you use a can: @TTFwatershed. Photos here.
The cans were designed and painted by artist Jay Coreano, who also painted the Love Your Park murals on the trails, and created the original Community Cans and our annual Birds of a Feather. Jay volunteered his time and skills to make the can tops through his employer, Dynamic Advertising Solutions. Thank you!!!
The purpose of these cans is to enable park visitors walking along the trail to dispose of trash to keep the park cleaner. We selected sites for the cans with the objective of not attracting short dumping or household trash.
Now, we're counting on you!
Please contact us if you see that a can has been damaged or is full of trash: info@ttfwatershed.org.
Let everyone know how much you like the cans and that the cans are to be respected...
