The 2018 'Relentless' is their 20th vintage made and has the special anniversary label along with it. That's quite fortuitous, as it's clearly the best Relentless to date. 60 bottles arrive midweek.

Also along with it are the 36 bottles of their 2019 'One Point Five' Cabernet Sauvignon. We've seen enough by now to know, very clearly, the trajectory of 2019 Napa Cabs. 🚀 (they're outstanding.)

There's so much to say about Shafer and why they're consistently among the world's greatest wines. So much that it'd make this email too long, but feel free to read here.

I always recommend Shafer to anyone that wants a quick answer to "what's the best Napa Cab" in general. Their wines always exude exceptional class and quality in any vintage. They continue to remain uncompromisingly small: Only 3,300 cases of Relentless and 9,000 cases of Cab were made. Above all else—they remain priced VERY fairly.

Please do act fast to secure this historic release for the ages. And while it's the perfect cellar addition, this makes for the best limited and elite producer to gift for the holidays as well.

96-98 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"A blend of 94% Syrah and 6% Petite Sirah, the 2018 Relentless looks to be just about sensational, offering a dense purple color as well as rich, loaded notes of blackberries, currants, smoked meats, peppery spice, and violets. Reminding me of a great Cornas on steroids with its gamy, exotic character paired with beautiful richness, it has fabulous purity, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. This will undoubtedly be a great vintage for this cuvée, and my money is on it being one of the best yet." (1/27/2021)

"A young wine with superb depth and polish that shows great depth and brightness. Full and focused with blue fruit and long, fine tannins that are compact and energetic. Slate. Graphite. Sophisticated and curated. So beautiful to try now, but be patient and open after 2026." (4/28/22)

"The 2018 Relentless is silky and polished. In 2018 the blend includes a relatively high percentage of Petit Syrah, but the wine does not taste like that at all. Ripe red/purplish berry fruit, lavender, rose petal, black pepper and sweet spice are laced into the super-expressive finish. "Blackberries and blueberries with cherries, too. The palate is very polished and refined with fresh, velvety tannins that provide tension and verve. It’s long and vivid with polish and beauty. Drinkable now, but give it at least three or four years to soften. Better after 2026."

93 Points - Wine Advocate:
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it delivers bright, vibrant notes of cassis, cedar, Marmite toast and black raspberries with hints of bay leaves and tilled earth in the background. The palate is full-bodied, rich and plush, featuring a lively backbone and a long finish that displays wonderful purity and precision."

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five is such an elegant wine. Bright, red-toned fruit and effusive aromatics lend striking brilliance to a Cabernet that is gracious and light on its feet. The 2019 stands out for its freshness and red fruit profile. It is beautifully done. One Point Five remains one of Napa Valley's little hidden gems; a wine that is seldom talked about in a discussion of the very top bottlings, but a Cabernet that never disappoints."
