Friday Photos

A great deal has been accomplished this week, as we continue the march toward completing Phase 1A of the restorative redecoration project For Such a Times as this by the second week of Advent. This Friday update photograph was taken around 1:00 PM today, November 22nd.

Major progress was made that includes the completion of the under-pew porcelain tile flooring, shown here in the foreground, the installation of the tabernacle wall and bracing, addition of adornments to marble furnishings and completion of the plaster repairs needed for this phase.

The marble tabernacle wall is secured in place by bracing to the rear wall of the Apse and to the floor and was assembled from two large marble components. Shown here during assembly and a rendering of what it will look like when completed with adornments and with the tabernacle and marble stand.

The symbols are also being installed on the furnishings. These were hand carved in Italy of linden wood and are gold leafed. Look for a future communication with more complete and meaningful information about the symbols.

With the plastering complete, work has begun on touch up and painting with primer in the Sanctuary. The wooden modesty panels are being modified by the in-house staff for re-installation in the Nave.

Next week will be a shorter work week as we pause for a day to celebrate Thanksgiving, but we will still be working diligently the other days, with primary emphasis on completing the marble floor and marble furnishings. The painting and finishing of the Marist Chapel of St. Peter Chanel will also get underway, along with the near final completion of the reworked cabinetry for the confessional, and the creation of the Baptistry.

We are preparing the church for the special celebration and musical program that will feature the Archdiocesan choir led by Donal Noonan, on Friday December the 13th at 7:30PM. We will be opening the church that same day at 7:00 PM for a preview of the redecorating project. Please plan to join us for this special evening.
