August 1, 2021
We are at the eighth month of the year. We have spent 212 days which leaves 153 days for the remaining portion of 2021. We are still experiencing a spike in the Corona virus due to vaccination resistance, politicizing of the vaccine and vaccinations, coupled with disinformation and political gridlock about moving our country forward with what is necessary to rebound from the effects of the pandemic. We are still practicing the CDC requirements of social distancing, wearing masks and getting vaccinated. Given the delta variant, there may be an opportunity to get a booster vaccine to reinforce the efficacy of the vaccinations that have already been given. Be sure to follow the directives of healthcare professions rather than conspiracies on the internet and disinformation that refutes what those who are most knowledgeable about curtailing the spread of viruses while mitigating the damages of the negative effects of the pandemic. Choose carefully whose judgment you trust. Be well and safe.
We will keep you updated as we receive information about the repairing of the structural damage to our sacred space. We need to have a campaign to elicit pledges for the work being done. We are anticipating the cost to be from $150,000 plus more as we continue through the various phases of completing the work. The company working on the repair is aware that we are a historic site and a cultural landmark and will assist us in facilitating submitting proposals for grants. Debbie Fleming has given $2000 for the structural damage. I am pledging $10,000 between now and the end of the year. I would like for you to begin considering the kind of pledge you can commit to making between now and the end of the year. Thank you for your consideration.
Sunday, August 22, 2021 is Young Adult Emphasis Sunday. Our young adults will be leading in worship and presenting messages for the broadcast on KJLH.

Continue to do what you are doing as we move through the challenge we are facing with what is happening in our lives particularly the specific challenge we face as a congregation with the structural damage to our sacred space. Continue to share with zoom so that as we maintain our connectivity we can see each other. Be faithful and prayerful.
Blest be the tie that binds / Our hearts in Christian love; / The fellowship of kindred minds / Is like to that above.
Before our Father’s throne, / We pour our ardent prayers; / Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, / Our comforts, and our cares.
We share our mutual woes, / Our mutual burdens bear; / And often for each other flows / The sympathizing tear.
When we asunder part, / It gives us inward pain; / But we shall still be joined in heart, / And hope to meet again.
