Community Book Discussion August 11

All are invited to a Community Book Read and Discussion of What We’ve Become: Living and Dying in a Country of Arms, by Jonathan M. Metzl. The discussion will be Monday, August 11, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Crescent Hill Baptist Church. Guns to Gardens Louisville is sponsoring the event to get people in our community talking and working together to end gun violence.

Jonathan Metzl, a Nashville-based public health expert and director of Vanderbilt University’s Center for Medicine, Health, and Society, will join the gathering via Zoom to introduce the book. For more information about this free event, click here.

Hope and Sumud: Palestinian Voices

August 3 and September 7

Join the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship's online church, Lost and Found, for an online worship service on Sunday evening, August 3, at 7:00 pm (Eastern time). Former PC(USA) moderator the Rev. Fahed Abu-Akel will preach. A young Palestinian American will share her experience living in Palestine. Together we will pray and encourage one another.

Prayer and Action for Middle East

Feel free to join us Thursdays on Zoom, in-person, or both. This group has enabled such support for one another as we all struggle to cope with the tragedies in the Middle East and the on and off cease fires and prisoner releases. We would be grateful to have others join us. Email Soni at soni.castleberry@gmail.com to get the Zoom link and be added to the group email list for regular communication.

Paul Seebeck has written an article about the prayer group for the online newsletter of the Synod of Living Waters. Read the article here: https://synodlw.org/2025/06/prayer-and-action-for-the-middle-east/
