Cool, Right?

At Trident Academy, we have the privilege of working each day with students whose minds are wired in uniquely powerful ways. While dyslexia, ADHD and other learning differences can create challenges in traditional academic settings, research and real-world experience consistently show that many dyslexic learners develop extraordinary strengths that serve them well throughout life. Qualities like creativity, problem-solving, resilience, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking are qualities frequently associated with dyslexic individuals, and many of the world’s most successful business leaders, inventors, architects, artists, and entrepreneurs attribute part of their success to learning how to think differently. Cool, right?

One of the most remarkable characteristics we see in our students every day at Trident Academy, though, is perseverance. Dyslexic learners often spend years developing strategies to overcome obstacles, adapt to challenges, and approach problems from multiple angles. Those experiences build determination, flexibility, and grit — qualities that cannot always be measured on a test but are deeply valued in the real world. Along those lines, Trident students are learning not only academic skills, but also how to advocate for themselves and each other, communicate effectively, and continue moving forward when things become difficult, and those are lifelong strengths. Cool, right?

As educators and parents, it is important that we continue helping our students recognize that their differences are not deficits. Confidence grows when students understand that success does not come from thinking exactly like everyone else; it comes from discovering and developing their own talents and abilities. Every day, we see students who are imaginative thinkers, compassionate classmates, natural leaders, and creative problem-solvers. Our goal at Trident Academy is not simply to help students succeed in school, but to help them recognize the tremendous value they bring to the world exactly as they are. Different = COOL…Right!

We can't wait to celebrate the accomplishments and growth of our students this school year. All parents and families are encouraged to attend!

Lower School Celebration: 8:30 a.m. until approximately 9:30 a.m.

Upper School Celebration/Graduation: 10:00 am until around 11:30 a.m.

We Appreciate Being Appreciated!

Thanks to the Trident Academy Parent Association (TAPA) and our families for making Teacher Appreciation Week such a special time. Our teachers and staff enjoyed a delicious breakfast and lunch along with a plethora of sweet treats, received beautiful flower arrangements and, best of all, were presented with handwritten cards from our students. It's an honor to work at a school with such wonderful and generous families!

Seahawk Day of Giving:
Wednesday, May 13

As we welcome our new Interim Head of School, Hacker Burr, we are embarking on a bold new adventure together. To celebrate the start of Trident Academy’s next chapter, we are inviting our entire community—parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends—to help us fuel the journey ahead.

Our goal for this year’s Day of Giving is to raise $20,000 for our Annual Fund. These funds serve as the "fuel" for our school, ensuring our students have the resources, technology, and support they need as we blast off into this next adventure.

To help us reach this milestone, Mr. Burr has thrown down a challenge. If we reach our $20,000 goal, he will host an all-school Banana Split Party for the students, and to show his Seahawk spirit, he will wear a banana costume all day long!

The Annual Fund is the lifeblood of our school. It allows us to maintain small class sizes and provide the individualized attention and support our students need to succeed. Your participation—at any level—directly impacts our classrooms and ensures that Trident Academy remains a place where every student can thrive as we embark on this next chapter together.

If you have already made a gift to our Annual Fund this year, thank you so much! We truly appreciate the support you have already shown. Please feel free to jump in on the fun of the Seahawk Day of Giving if you wish, but know that we are so grateful for the contribution you have already made.

Admissions Update

We are receiving inquiries daily from interested parents, and we are accepting and enrolling new students for next year. An important part of our admissions process is a two-day shadow visit, which allows a prospective student to get the feel for our school, our teachers, and potential classmates, and allows our teachers to see the student in a classroom setting. The last day for a shadow visit is Thursday, May 14, but we will continue to accept applications throughout the summer. Visit our admissions process page to learn more.

Our Students Are Growing --

We're Collecting Gently Used Clothing

As the school year comes to a close, you're welcome to thin out your child's closet by donating his or her gently used Trident-branded clothing to our school. Please drop off your clothing items at our front desk or send them in with your child. We will let parents know this summer when we set a date for a used clothing sale before the new school year begins.

WHAT'S HAPPENING ON CAMPUS:

Our fourth and fifth graders visited Fort Moultrie. We're so lucky to have so many historic sites for field trips so close by!
