YVCHR's 100-in-1 Recipients!
As we begin a new program year, we reflect on ALL of the amazing youth who showed up to lend a helping hand in spite of the many challenges associated with the global pandemic. Through it all, our youth volunteers were flexible, brave, compassionate and committed to making a positive impact in our community. YVCHR is incredibly grateful to and proud of our youth volunteers and their families!

Each program year, we recognize those who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to service. This award goes to youth volunteers who complete at least 100 service hours with YVCHR within one program year (September 1- August 31). These three young ladies each selflessly devoted OVER 100 hours of service at a variety of projects, both in-person and virtually.

$6 6K Fun Run: Monday, September 13 at 6:00pm
NEST Kitchen & Taphouse
Point 2 Running Company is hosting its first ever $6 6K with proceeds supporting YVCHR's school clubs! Each runner is encouraged to donate $3 (or more!), and Point 2 will also donate $3 per runner...for a total donation of $6 per participant. Please arrive early to sign in and make your donation (cash, checks and credit/debit cards are accepted).
  • The run will take place around the Kiln Creek loop, which is almost exactly 6 kilometers (3.72 miles).
  • Each runner will receive a raffle ticket, and every $3 donation earns an additional raffle ticket. Raffle prizes include a pair of New Balance shoes, Point 2 gift cards, and more!
  • New Balance will have demo shoes you can try out on your run.
  • Afterward, Pivot Physical Therapy will be there for an injury clinic to discuss any lingering runner issues.
  • Point 2 will provide complimentary Nuun.
  • NEST will be extending their Happy Hour with food and drink specials.

NOTE: This is a fun run to raise money for YVCHR; the event will not be timed and no medals or top finisher prizes will be awarded.

Join YVCHR at Topgolf on Sunday, October 17th from 2:00 - 5:00PM for our fall fundraiser! This tournament-style event will be open to families and individuals. Not an avid golfer? No problem! All guests can play for prizes, bid on silent auction items, and enjoy food on the buffet--all in support of youth volunteerism in Hampton Roads!

Tickets are currently on sale, so mark your calendars, invite your friends and get ready to golf "fore" YVCHR!
YVCHR is a youth development organization BUT it takes a village of service-minded adults to teach and model the importance of service to youth. So if you would like to join our team we are looking for adults (21+):

  1. Who would like to join one or more of our special events committees (i.e. Topgolf Fundraiser, Canstructure Competition, Give Local 757, etc.)
  2. Who would like to serve alongside youth as a back-up Team Leader

September is Hunger Action Month

The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank has officially started their hunger awareness campaign in order to inspire action as well as bring light to the fact that 62,000 people in our local community face a difficult choice every day. It is a choice no one should have to make and it is the choice between food and other needs like medicine, electricity and even childcare.
