PEOPLE'S CHOICE VOTING NOW OPEN FOR BALLARD'S WATERING CART
Alright, y'all made it really difficult to narrow it down with all of your clever name ideas but we have the top picks selected. Now we need you to decide the name of our flower planter watering cart.
The name options are as follows:
Dolly Carton, Flo, H2Olaf, Leak Erikson and Helga.
What should we name the cart? Vote for your favorite name here or the button below.
| | | |
Voting will close on Thursday, September 24 and the name announced on Friday, September 25. The name with the most votes will win. One vote per person please.
This electric motorized cart holds 65 gallons of water and moves the neighborhood once a week. The cart has become a valued member of the Alliance team this year and has made maintaining the beautful flower planters much more efficient and effective!
The winning name will be displayed on the side of the cart. Special thanks to the generous owners of the Ballard Building for helping us store the cart and fill her up each week!

BALLARD ALLIANCE CONTINUES TO ADVOCATE ON ISSUES THAT IMPACT BALLARD BUSINESS OWNERS AND RESIDENTS
Last week, the Ballard Alliance, along with 34 CEOs and Executive Directors representing major Seattle businesses and business organizations, signed an open letter to Mayor Katie Wilson, Council President Joy Hollingsworth, and Councilmember Robert Kettle (Council Public Safety Committee Chair).
| | | |
The letter requests a public safety action plan rooted in common sense safety strategies that have all garnered strong support from Seattle voters in a recent public opinion poll.
Additionally, the Ballard Alliance sent a support letter regarding a City Council resolution to fund a gun violence reduction strategy in partnership with the National Network for Safe Communities.
Public safety continues as a top priority for our organization. We seek actionable results whether it is with strategies we deploy within the Ballard Improvement Area or addressing citywide or regional issues that impact the neighborhood. Our approach is always collaborative and we leverage our ability to work with elected leaders and department heads, as well as well-researched strategies that have had effective outcomes in other communities.

YOU'RE INVITED TO THE SPIR FOUNDATION ANNUAL FUNDRAISER GALA ON OCT. 3
We are honored to promote this event again this year! Join the Spír Candle Co. family for an unforgettable evening filled with connection, stories, and hope at their fundraising gala, Spír Foundation Annual Fundraiser: Beyond Employment on Saturday, October 3 from 6 - 9 p.m.
Last year, our friends at Spír Candle Co./Cathedral hosted more than 100 supporters to celebrate the launch of the Spír Foundation. This year, they are welcoming the community back to help raise funds and expand Spír Foundation's mission further.
| | | |
Not only does the Spír Candle Co. and Spir Foundation provide an essential lifeline for young men through employment opportunities but they have "continued investing in the young men we serve through mentorship, community, and wraparound support while laying the foundation for even greater impact in the years ahead."
From Nate Stone, founder of Spír Candle Co. and Cathedral:
"For more than seven years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside young men rebuilding their lives after incarceration. Together, we’ve provided more than 15,000 hours of employment to 70 young men, built lasting relationships, and learned an important lesson: a job alone isn't enough. The Spír Foundation exists to provide the wraparound support young men need to thrive and become the best version of who they already are. Through mentorship, community, and holistic support, we're helping create pathways to stability, purpose, and opportunity."
Here is where the community can have lasting impact and change the course of dozens of young men's lives in our community. Purchase your ticket to this meaningful event or make a donation to the Spír Foundation directly. Attendees of the fundraising gala will enjoy an evening of drinks. light bites, interactive experiences, community connection and a few surprises.
Tickets start at $50. Cocktail attire attire is suggested. Cathedral is located at 5449 Ballard Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107.
