What Happens To Your Recycling At Mission Trail Waste Systems?
Last Friday, February 28, 2020, several members of City staff toured the Material Recovery Facility in San Leandro, where Los Altos recycling material is sorted. Staff was able to witness firsthand how recyclables are processed.

Mission Trail Waste Systems (MTWS) provides residential and commercial collection services for garbage, recycling, and organics. Recycling materials must go through a series of several sorting stations, some through machines, and others by hand.

RECYCLING TIP! Do not to deposit plastic bags in the recycling bin. Plastic bags are not recyclable and have to be pulled off the conveyor belt by hand slowing down the process. If a bag is missed it contaminates the other recycled material.

Have questions about recycling or what goes in your recycling bin? Visit the MTWS website here: http://bit.ly/333Rq9P
