Dear Friends,

Did you know that LHR serves more than 14,000 of our Loudoun neighbors every year? Families who never thought they would need help with food come through our doors every day.

Your support means everything to the neighbors we help.

One family who has received help has given us permission to share their story. We've changed some details and names to protect their privacy, but their story is typical of many we hear at LHR. Thanks for helping them, and the thousands of other families who get food at LHR every month.

Liza (name changed to protect privacy), a mom of three, comes to LHR a couple of times each month. She's been getting food at LHR for the last two years, as prices have outpaced her family's income. The raises her husband and she have had at their hourly wage jobs just haven't kept up, and her older children are teenage boys--they eat a lot! She shared that she looks forward to the vegetables, milk and meat she gets at LHR. "But really", she said, "everything we take home is wonderful. This is such a great place. The people who work here are amazing. They do such a great job. They make you feel good."

Honor the Moms Who Give So Much

This Mother’s Day, celebrate the special women in your life by giving a gift that helps provide nourishment to families in need. You can make an "in honor" donation on LHR's website--see the how-to info below.

Your contribution helps families facing food insecurity have access to fresh, nutritious meals. With every dollar donated, we can provide essential groceries and support to those who need it most.

Making a Donation "in honor of"

When you make a donation "in honor of" someone, you have the option to put your honoree's name and email or mailing address in the dedication box. Check the box that asks us to send an acknowledgment. Your honoree will receive either a card or an email as you direct with your message included.

Saturday, May 10th is Stamp Out Hunger Day!

This Saturday, join the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive by leaving a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox—your letter carrier will pick it up to help stock local food pantries like LHR. This nationwide effort, led by the National Association of Letter Carriers, is the largest one-day food drive in the country.

Upcoming Pantry Closings

Our offices and pantry will be closed:

May 24 and May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

Please do not leave donations outside while we are closed.
