Credentials Committee
- GracePointe Baptist Church (Mark Bishop, Pastor) was received under provisional membership.
- Anchor Baptist Church (Jack Hughes, pastor) withdrew from LRBA.
Mercy Ministry Catalytic Consultant
- Conference on child abuse will be rescheduled.
-
Calls were made to our LRBA churches to ascertain their needs during the pandemic. Some food and non-perishables items were personally delivered to the homes of pastors and their families prior to the governmental stimulus aid being issued. Monies were reallocated to provide financial support (COVID-19 Pastor Relief Fund) and shared among those pastors in need.
- There is an opportunity for LRBA churches to get involved with feeding the hungry. “Love the Hungry” provides food for churches to distribute to their communities. Volunteers of all ages are needed to pack boxes for the hungry.
Church Planting Catalytic Consultant
- The associational strategy of church planting will be renamed “Plant Louisville” and will focus on high need areas in the city. There are several highly populated areas that have few churches.
- The church planting team urges every LRBA church to pray, plan, and plant.
- The team continues to seek replanting opportunities and pray for leaders for those opportunities.
Associational Mission Strategist
- At the annual meeting, recommendations for adjustments to the constitution and by-laws will be presented to help us be able to conduct associational business during seasons like this, should they ever occur again.
- The official Fred Tucker emphasis and offering will be pushed to October to coincide with the week of the annual meeting and the SBC Week of Prayer for Associations, but Todd encouraged the churches to emphasize the offering whenever it works best for them.
- The “Indispensable” podcast to resource churches regarding special needs ministry was launched.
- LRBA is still pursuing the right person to fill the open church revitalization catalytic consultant position.
- The Church Revitalization Team is hosting a limited capacity pastor’s gathering called Pastoral Leadership in a Chaotic Context on September 25th from 10am to 3pm.
- The Associational Response Team has met with three churches to address their situations and develop action plans. This has been slowed by COVID-19 but work continues.
- COVID-19 resources have been compiled and shared on the LRBA website and FaceBook page.
- LRBA launched the weekly Connecting Leaders Meetings on Zoom (now monthly). We have provided consultation and training regarding outreach and engagement, prayerwalking, community service, CARES Act and PPP, building preparation, re-entry plans, and a myriad of others. Several video pieces, including an interview Metro Council President David James, were produced to help provide practical tools to navigate the COVID crisis.
- Todd addressed the current racial tensions both outside and inside the church and encouraged the leaders of our churches to address these issues with honesty, integrity, and a heart for bringing the hope of the gospel to hurting people. Several efforts are underway to provide greater resources and relational connections amongst leaders. He urged us to see that it is unacceptable for us to care for the souls of people but not for their bodies and circumstances. We must be the place for people to find grace-filled and compassionate solutions and conversations.

They are only available to ministries and churches, not businesses or individuals, and they are not to be sold. Contact the LRBA office at (502) 635-2601 today to reserve your masks. Distribution will be on a first come, first served basis.

|
We have been informed of a concern with HVAC startup following COVID-19 shutdowns. Professionals are saying that they are seeing first time mold issues in units that have been shut down for significant periods of time. If your units were off for a good part of the quarantine period, you may want to have the inside of the units themselves and the first portion of the supply duct checked.
