Local: Los Gatos Businesses Join Congressional AI Roundtable
The Los Gatos Chamber joined the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber and U.S. Chamber of Commerce for a small business AI roundtable with Congressman Sam Liccardo, bringing together businesses from across California’s 16th Congressional District. The Chamber brought four Los Gatos member businesses to the table: Inikosoft; BurgerBots; Time Out Clothing; and French Lessons/Romantiques. Owners shared how they’re using AI and robotics to improve operations, and discussed the need for affordable AI tools, access to global platforms, stronger workforce skills, and a regulatory environment that supports innovation.
The roundtable gave Los Gatos businesses a direct opportunity to share local experiences and priorities with Congressman Liccardo as federal policymakers consider the evolving role of AI in the economy. Ensuring local businesses have a voice in policy conversations is an important part of the Chamber’s advocacy role.

State: New Sales Tax on Business Software & SaaS Begins in 2027
Beginning January 1, 2027, California will expand its sales and use tax to prewritten software, including many Software as a Service (SaaS) subscriptions accessed through the cloud. The change, enacted through SB 122 and signed by Governor Newsom on June 29, could increase costs for businesses that rely on accounting, CRM, payroll, scheduling, marketing and other software.
Custom software remains exempt, while important implementation questions remain as businesses await additional guidance from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. Businesses should review their software subscriptions and 2027 technology budgets now and consult their tax professional about significant renewals or contracts that may be affected. Purchase a Tasting Wristband, your passport to signature bites from 27+ participating Los Gatos restaurants, with the option to upgrade to Bites & Wine for tastings from 20 local wineries.
New this year, Vintage on Village transforms Village Lane into a lively destination within the festival, featuring wine tastings, live jazz, and a curated showcase of vintage and collectible Porsches. Guests purchasing the Bites & Wine Tasting Wristband will also receive one beverage ticket redeemable at the Chamber Tap Truck and enjoy an exclusive David Bruce Winery experience: a special vertical tasting of Pinot Noir featuring three vintages tasted directly from the barrel in Gardenia’s beautiful garden.
The Chamber Tap Truck moves adjacent to the Main Stage this year, serving local craft beer along with new offerings: hard cider and sparkling non-alcoholic refreshers.
Festival admission is free, so everyone can enjoy live music, Good Sam’s Feel the Beat Lounge, the Family Fun Zone, including the El Camino Health Togethering Heals Rock Climbing Wall, and more.
