Greater Austin Allergy

Hello, Greater Austin Allergy Family!

If you live in Austin, you already know — allergy season doesn’t politely start and stop here. It rolls from cedar into oak, from grass into weeds, often with very little break in between.

Many patients tell us they feel like they’re “always fighting something.” They assume it’s a lingering cold, stress, or even just the climate. In reality, Central Texas is one of the most active allergy environments in the country — and overlapping triggers can make symptoms feel constant.

This month, we’re clarifying the difference between seasonal and perennial allergies, why so many people experience both, and how testing can finally provide real answers.

Relief doesn’t begin with guessing. It begins with understanding.

We’re here to help you breathe easier — every season of the year.

Stay Clear,

The Greater Austin Allergy Team

Get Ahead of Allergy Season

If your allergies feel constant, you’re not imagining it.

In Texas and surrounding regions, allergy seasons overlap. Tree pollen blends into grass. Grass transitions into weeds. And when outdoor pollen dips, indoor allergens like dust mites, mold, and pet dander continue triggering symptoms.

That’s why many patients feel like their allergies never truly end.

🧪 Why Testing Matters

It’s common to have both seasonal and year-round allergies — and without testing, it’s difficult to know which allergens are driving your symptoms.

☑️ Allergy testing allows us to:

  • Identify your specific triggers
  • Clarify whether symptoms are seasonal, year-round, or both
  • Create a personalized treatment plan
  • Determine if immunotherapy is right for you

Instead of reacting to symptoms, testing helps you get ahead of them.

🌸 Now Is the Time

Spring peaks are approaching. If congestion, sneezing, sinus pressure, or fatigue are lingering, don’t wait until pollen levels spike.

Relief starts with clarity — and clarity starts with testing.

💡 Ready to stop reacting to symptoms and start getting ahead of them? Schedule your allergy evaluation today.

Set Reminders. Stay Ahead.

Pollen levels are often highest in the early morning — just when you’re getting kids ready, heading to work, or stepping outside for the first time.

Instead of reacting to symptoms after they start, set yourself up to get ahead of them.

A simple phone reminder can make a big difference.

📱 Set a daily reminder around 8:00–9:00 AM to:

  • Check the local pollen count
  • Take allergy medication (if prescribed) before exposure
  • Close windows on high-count days
  • Pack tissues or eye drops if needed
  • Stay hydrated throughout the day. Consistent hydration supports your immune system, sinus health, and overall well-being during allergy season and beyond.

Small, consistent habits can reduce symptom flare-ups and help you feel more in control of your day.

When you plan ahead, you breathe easier.

📅 Take the next step toward smarter allergy management and schedule a consultation with our team.

Lucky Lime Yogurt Parfaits

Gluten-Free | Nut-Free | Egg-Free | Soy-Free

March is a fun time to bring a little green into the kitchen — but many festive treats rely on artificial dyes, heavy creams, or common allergens. This simple Lucky Lime Yogurt Parfait keeps things light, naturally colorful, and family-friendly.

With fresh fruit, a creamy base, and a vibrant lime twist, it’s a refreshing way to celebrate the season without triggering unnecessary sensitivities.

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups plain coconut yogurt or oat-based yogurt
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup fresh kiwi, diced
  • 1 cup green grapes, halved
  • ½ cup pineapple chunks
  • Small handful fresh spinach (for natural green layer)
  • Gluten-free granola (optional topping)

👩🏻‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Make the Lime Yogurt Base: In a bowl, mix yogurt, lime zest, lime juice, and maple syrup or honey if using. Stir until smooth and lightly sweetened.
  2. Create the Natural Green Layer: Blend spinach with pineapple until smooth. The pineapple naturally sweetens the spinach, creating a bright green layer without artificial coloring.
  3. Layer the Parfaits: In clear glasses or jars, alternate layers of: Lime yogurt, green pineapple-spinach blend, kiwi, and grapes
  4. Top & Serve: Add gluten-free granola if tolerated. Chill for 15–30 minutes before serving for best flavor.

Fresh, simple ingredients can go a long way toward supporting overall wellness. This naturally green parfait offers a light, refreshing option for breakfast, snack time, or dessert — without common trigger ingredients.

Because during allergy season and beyond, what you put in your body matters.

Anti-Inflammatory Lifestyle Spotlight

While allergy triggers may be outside your control, how you support your body isn’t.

Allergies are an immune response — and when your system is already under stress, symptoms can feel more intense. Small, consistent habits can help your body respond more efficiently during high-pollen days.

Simple Ways to Support Your Immune System:

💧 Stay Hydrated

Proper hydration supports sinus drainage, helps thin mucus, and promotes overall wellness.

🥗 Focus on Balanced Nutrition

Prioritize whole foods, lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats to support your body’s natural defenses.

😴 Protect Your Sleep

Aim for consistent, quality sleep. Poor sleep can heighten inflammation and worsen allergy symptoms.

🌬️ Improve Indoor Air Quality

Use HEPA filters in your HVAC system or bedroom to reduce indoor allergens like dust mites, pet dander, and mold spores.

These small adjustments won’t replace allergy testing or treatment — but they can enhance your overall resilience during allergy season and beyond.

What’s in the Air This Winter

In Central Texas, changes in weather and shifting environmental conditions can cause pollen and mold levels to fluctuate throughout the year—even outside of peak allergy seasons. These shifts often contribute to symptoms like sneezing, congestion, itchy eyes, or breathing discomfort, and many people notice symptoms appearing or lingering unexpectedly.

Our Daily Pollen Tracker helps you stay informed with real-time updates on local pollen and mold levels, making it easier to recognize patterns, plan ahead, and manage symptoms more effectively—so changes in the air don’t catch you off guard.

👉 Stay ahead of winter allergies—check today’s pollen levels at Greater Austin Allergy and enjoy the season with fewer flare-ups.
