Dear Friends,

As we approach the end of 2024, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible way our community has shown up for one another this year. Thanks to your unwavering support, thousands of Loudoun families have had access to the food they needed—particularly when it mattered most. This leap year, with its 366 days, your generous contributions helped provide more than 2.1 million meals!

2024 has been a year of growth and challenges for Loudoun Hunger Relief (LHR). The need for our services has increased compared to 2023, and we are moving more food through our doors than ever before.

Whether you volunteered your time, donated food, or contributed financially, your support helped us keep our doors open and our shelves stocked. Our dedicated staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry. But none of this would have been possible without you showing up and standing by your neighbors when they needed it most.

None of us knows when we may find ourselves in need—or when we’ll have the chance to help someone else. Life has a way of shifting us between these roles, sometimes daily. But what makes a community strong is our ability to show up for each other, no matter the circumstances. And Loudoun is a community that never hesitates to rise to the occasion.

We were deeply honored this year to receive both the Nonprofit of the Year Award and the Small Business of the Year Award from the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. These awards reflect the hard work and dedication of everyone who has shown up for LHR—from our donors and volunteers to our staff and partners. These honors belong to all of you as much as they do to us.

As we enter the holiday season, we hope you are surrounded by warmth, joy, and shared meals with loved ones. May you experience peace and fulfillment as you reflect on the difference you’ve made this year.

Thank you for always showing up—for your neighbors, our community, and those who need it most.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season and a bright New Year,

The Entire Team at Loudoun Hunger Relief

'Tis The Season To Give

Please consider making a year-end gift to Loudoun Hunger Relief. If you're unsure what to give that "hard-to-shop-for" person in your life, we can gladly send a card notifying them of your gift made in their name. You can easily support our work by making a grant from your Donor-Advised Fund.

We rely on individual donations for most of our funding, allowing us to distribute over 2.5 million pounds of food each year and serve between 14,000 and 16,000 residents of Loudoun County. We take our responsibility to manage the resources you provide very seriously. It is an honor to act as a bridge between those who can help and those in need. Our financial statements are available for your review on our website.

Loudoun Empty Bowls raised $74,000 from its 2024 Empty Bowls event to support Loudoun Hunger Relief, LAWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Services (LAWS) and Dulles South Food Pantry. Each of the three organizations received a portion of the event proceeds to fill the bowls of those in need in our community.

The event was held on the evening of September 12, 2024 at the stunning and scenic Stone Tower Winery, the venue sponsor for the eleventh year. Loudoun Empty Bowls brings together artists, who donate one-of-a-kind handmade bowls, and people who care about eliminating hunger and injustice in our community. Over 600 people attended this sold-out event, and 110 gallons of soup were donated. We're grateful to all who attended and supported this incredible event.

The merriest of thank yous goes out to our friends at Jingle Jam! The fifteenth year of this Leesburg tradition was as festive as ever. Three shows benefited Loudoun Hunger Relief and Breakthrough T1D. We are grateful to the fabulous Jingle Jam band, their sponsors, the Tally Ho Theater, and all the amazing people behind the scenes who make this show happen every year.
