MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin
What's New This Week

The Board of Trustees continued our DPW Site Redevelopment Series with the fourth Chapter regarding Dark Matter, held this past Thursday. This meeting began with a discussion of what it means for the DPW site to be defined as a brownfield and how, through initializing construction for residential development, it can be remediated as part of the DEC's Brownfield Cleanup Program. After the presentation, we opened the session to hear questions and comments from the public.

The next chapter of the series is scheduled for March 9 @ 7 PM where we will discuss the potential impact on the Ossining Union Free School District: School Me. With new development often comes new school children, which can create questions about tax revenue, capacity, and budget impact.

Additionally, we plan to discuss the various public amenities proposed for the site, including a much-needed pedestrian connection between upper Main Street and Station Plaza, the creation of space for retail opportunities, and over 3,500 square feet of state-of-the-art space for use by the local community groups, including the school district.
