The Time Traveler's Quick Guide to Armageddon

Part Five: Time's Dragon

Click here to read the transcript of the last lesson on the battle of Armageddon, or Har Megiddo, which was Part Four. In Part Four, we laid out the parallel texts of Revelation 19 and Judges 4 and 5, which gives us a template of the later Armageddon from earlier battles with the kings of the east.

Please join us on the livestream tomorrow so we can unpack the presence of the Dragon, the Crocodile of the Nile, at the Valley of Jezreel and Har Megiddo, or Armageddon in Part Five: Time's Dragon.

Shabbat Shalom!

YouTube livestream at 4:00 pm Eastern on Shabbat

Samuel Ramsay's Insights on the

Arava Desert

Samuel Ramsay is an avid lover of Israel and the Arava, and he corresponds with several rabbis there. He lives in East Texas on a rural farm where he shepherds sheep, cleans up people’s yards, and birdwatches.

The Desert Land Snail

The Land Snail is a highly adaptive snail that inhabits the Arava Desert. There are three main types of Land Snails in the Aravah, and they all thrive in the hot, dry environment of the desert. The most common one is the Desert Land Snail.

Since all snails rely on moisture to survive, these creatures have remarkable ways of surviving. To avoid getting dried out, these snails spend about 93% to 95% of the year in a state of torpor. They are only active for roughly 10-30 days a year, awakening immediately after winter rainfall to feed, mate, and lay eggs before going back to “sleep.”

While many creatures burrow underground to escape the heat, this snail is mostly found above ground and fully exposed to the sun. Because they are a chalky white, they reflect a lot of heat to maintain cooler internal temperatures. They seal the opening of their shells with a thick layer of mucus, which allows them to retain water so efficiently that dormant museum specimens have successfully awoken after six years without water!

When awake, Desert Snails eat algae and lichens found on the undersides of rocks or other places.

What can we learn from this plant?

The Desert Snail stays tucked away most of the year in a shell, coming out for a very short period of time.

Unlike the Desert Snail, it is important that believers have a community or at least one person to link arms with, especially at the appointed times, not just once per year. It keeps us awake the other days of the year!

Yeshua said that “where two or three are together in my name, I am there also,” emphasizing the point that praying together and meeting together on holy convocations is more powerful than by yourself.

Just as Aaron and Hur held up Moses’s hands when he got weak, so we need to have friends that will help us with our burdens. Just as the four men lowered their paralyzed friend through the roof on a stretcher to get to Yeshua, so we need to have friends that will hold us up when we are weary.

If we are not to grow weary in well doing and spiritually "sleep" too much, leaving only slime instead of good works, we need community. Otherwise:

Let them be as a snail which melts away as it goes along, (Ps 58:8)

Orphanage News

We wired the money this week to complete the sale of the 1.5 acre property for a transition home for the older LaMalah children who have aged out, but they still need a place to transition to independent living or to stay during college breaks. We usually receive more donations during the high holy days, so we are anticipating being able to at least start construction on a building soon.

Next week I hope to have some information for you on Hadassah Orphanage in India. In the past, we have assisted when there were special needs, but now we will be helping this orphanage on a regular basis. Funds have been received from the prior charitable fund managers, which will give us a boost in the right direction. Please add Brother Babu and the Hadassah children to your prayer list along with Brother Peter Ndungu and the LaMalah children.

For those who mail donation checks, our mailing address is:

If you feel led to help with the operating expenses of LaMalah, you can always use the Paypal donate button below, Zelle (for Zelle, use creationgospel@gmail.com, and email us your contact information if you desire a year-end donation statement), or send a check by snail mail to:

Your continual prayers for the children of LaMalah and our brothers and sisters in Kenya are so much appreciated. If you've never heard the story of how LaMalah was conceived and built, please take a moment to look over the brief description by clicking here.
