Luke 6:27-38 The measure you give is the measure you get back. Now apply that to everything. Love. Hate. Begging. Lending. Judgement. Blessings. Doing good. That's what Jesus challenges us to do in our Gospel this week. We will ponder how it applies to our modern lives, because we know it will!   God, You call us to listen to Your Son, Jesus, but sometimes it is really difficult. We use the world's measures or even more we measure things giving ourselves an abundant measure of grace that we may not give to others. Help us to pay careful attention to these things. In Jesus' name, Amen.

GLC students make the meal for Lazarus House

Our 3rd/4th/5th graders prepared the sandwiches and salad. We are grateful for their enthusiasm for working in the kitchen to feed others in need! #generouslifeinChrist The First Communion students made a casserole at home and then delivered it to Lazarus House. Thank you, Rowan, and all the other students for serving! #generouslifeinChrist

WONDERING... Real questions from real people to learn more about faith

Why don't we sing my favorite hymns? I often ask the same question! The reality is the list of 'favorite' hymns continues to grow and expand. I like to use the example of 'Borning Cry' or 'Beautiful Things'...these two hymns have become treasures! Imagine if we had never sung them. I get that it can feel like a cozy blanket to sing a familiar hymn, to close our eyes and sing from the heart. And I remember Charlie Carlson singing familiar music from the back even as his dementia progressed. We do try to blend the old favorites with the new, but above all to pay attention to how the words of each hymn invite us deeper into the scriptures and help us to 'pray twice'.
