NEXO A Collaboration Connects Multi-Cultural Families with Services
Community Care Alliance and Tides Family Services has just made it easier for Spanish-speaking families to receive behavioral health services for their children in communities that are overlooked and under-resourced.
The NEXO Center for Mental and Behavioral Health or NEXO Centro de Salud Mental y de la Conducta opened on December 9th at 242 Dexter Street in Pawtucket where children can access both community-based and outpatient mental health services regardless of the family's insurance status. The center staff uses evidence-based practices to provide integrated care that addresses chronic and toxic stress.
The clinical team is led by Board-Certified Pediatric Psychiatrist Dr. Ornella Potter, who said, “Our goal is to be there for families in times of crisis, to provide timely treatment and to empower individuals to make commitments that preserve families. We know that receiving health information from trusted messengers within the community helps clients navigate the language and cultural barriers they may face in accessing services. ”
Funding from the June Rockwell Levy Foundation and the Pappitto Opportunity Connection makes these services possible and help eliminate barriers to accessing care.
