Global Impact: Localized Production Lines Accelerate High-Speed Optical Module Packaging for AI Applications

At SEMICON China 2026 in Shanghai, MRSI Mycronic Group presented its latest advancements for AI-enabled high-speed optical modules and co-packaged optics (CPO), together with its distribution partner Alltek. In a live interview, Dr. Limin Zhou, General Manager of MRSI Automation, discussed how the company is expanding local capabilities to help customers worldwide accelerate their transition from research and development to large-scale manufacturing.

Key to this global commitment is two product lines designed and manufactured locally in China: the MRSI-LEAP high-speed die bonder and the MRSI-A-L automatic active alignment system. Together, these technologies provide an integrated die bonding and active alignment process that meets demanding requirements for accuracy, productivity, and dependability in next-generation optical packaging. This approach helps customers around the world streamline assembly and alignment, reduce production bottlenecks, and scale rapidly to meet market needs.

Looking to the future, MRSI plans to continue investing in local research, development, and manufacturing, while strengthening partnerships with customers as CPO and heterogeneous integration technologies enter mass production globally. Dr. Limin Zhou stated, "We will further strengthen deep collaboration with local customers, continue to increase R&D investments, and develop more cost-effective and agile packaging equipment solutions tailored to new AI-driven market demands, serving both local and global customers."

AI's Unstoppable Momentum: Why the Artificial Intelligence Boom Is Here to Stay—Insights from the Optica Executive Forum & OFC

If you’ve been following technology trends, you know that artificial intelligence (AI) has been at the center of innovation for the past several years. But is the AI boom just a fleeting trend, or are we in for continued growth? Insights from the recent Optica Executive Forum and OFC make it clear: the AI boom is showing no signs of slowing down, and experts predict the upward trajectory will continue for at least the next two to three years.

From AI momentum to manufacturing reality

AI is moving past the hype, and the first real pressure is showing up in manufacturing. As demand accelerates across photonics and advanced packaging, key technologies enabling the hardware behind AI, development cycles are tightening. Manufacturers are under pressure to accelerate time-to-production, without compromising the delivery precision, repeatability, and yield that high-volume manufacturing demands.
