Lauren Jewett is an outstanding community advocate and educator that we need in Washington.
Her vision, and plans for the 1st Congressional District, has earned her the endorsement of the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee.
Lauren Jewett, 1st Congressional District candidate, has built an unprecedented grassroots campaign with over 31,000 contributions from 21,367 individual donors against one of the most powerful Republicans in Washington. Lauren has traveled tirelessly to all eight parishes in the district, attending candidate forums, meeting with constituents, and listening to families. Unlike her opponent (Steve Scalise) who has yet to appear at a single candidate forum, Lauren Jewett shows up and does the work.
Lauren Jewett, NBCT, MA, is a National Board-Certified Teacher in Exceptional Needs and a founding staff member at The Leah Chase School. She is an active member of her teacher's union and regularly volunteers in the community by delivering meals to people experiencing food insecurity, participating in an organization that sends books to incarcerated people, and educating and registering voters.
Lauren Jewett was a New Orleans City Business 2021 Power 20 Education List Honoree and received the Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee's Power of the People Award 2025 for championing labor rights and empowering working families. Lauren was also the recipient of the American Consortium for Equity in Education Excellence in Equity Award and ASCD Emerging Leader Alumni Affiliate 2022 Excellence in Educational Practices Award.
Congressional District 1 deserves a Congressperson who will show up, and the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee is thrilled to support Lauren Jewett, who will show up for our families to deliver on addressing the rising cost of insurance, improving access to health care, and relief to the high cost of living. Vote Early! Vote Lauren! When we Vote, We Win!
