"Man, will I miss Bobby B. I met Bobby in 1992 and we instantly became friends. He was fun and interesting to be around. He was smart, well educated, with a quick wit and sharp mind. His opinions were always backed by fact, which no matter your side of the topic, you appreciated. He was passionate about his family, his music, and in his work. I worked on many projects and deals with him, and that passion was always on display. He deeply cared about the projects he worked on and the people he worked for. We were part of a great group of what I call ICSC friends, that all met through our careers. Through that group, our company group, and other friends, we had so many great times, often at unique places that Bobby found. Bobby or BB, never Robert, and rarely Bob, was he. He was kind and compassionate, but never conforming, which is something I always admired. We will miss you, BB, but your legacy will live on."
Randy Goodman, President
"Connecting with Bobby so early in my career taught me it was ok to be yourself in this business. He was a true original and led the way in 'beating to his own drum'! Only Bobby could weave his rock 'n' roll roots into real estate and entertain his way through a deal!"
Richard Edelman, Senior Vice President/Principal
"Bobby Benjamin was a friend and colleague for 26 years, who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of working with him. We met though CRE and completed many deals together. During our time at Goodman Real Estate Services Group, we traveled to many CRE events around the country with our group, entertaining clients, and dining in great restaurants. He loved tequila (before it was cool), local restaurants off the beaten path, ethnic foods you never heard of, and anything spicy. If a meal was not spicy enough, he usually had some HEAT in his carryall along with some Advil, a toothpick, floss, band aids, mints, gum, or just about anything one could need. Bobby was an avid reader, walker, and BMW enthusiast. If he wanted something he would go after it, with all of his passion. Often Bobby would corner you to tell you how great his kids Tony, Ronnie, and Aaron were doing and how much he loved Dionne. He was so proud of them! I miss him already and know that we continue to remember him often in the office/industry due to his involvement in our community."
Zachary Sogoloff, Senior Vice President
"Bobby is one of the few people I have met in my lifetime, who was unapologetically himself, but to the benefit of others. No ego, no brashness, just positivity. From the special seasonings he kept on his person, history lessons on tequila and mezcal, and the hours of dancing, Bobby did everything in the unique way only Bobby could do it. The world is a little more boring without “BB” in it…You will be missed."
Daniel A.D. Clark, Executive Vice President and Manager - Columbus Office
"Bobby always brought humor to the company leasing meetings. The amount of one-liners and puns he could use in one meeting was staggering. Many fell flat, but Bobby laughed at all of them, genuinely, which was the best part. Sometimes, he’d hit the nail on the head and have us all in tears. I personally always wondered if he wrote some of them down before the meetings and waited for the perfect time to strike… Whatever the case may be, Bobby was hilarious and a joy to be around. That’s how I will remember Bobby most. His humor was infectious and I think he had a general goal of making people smile, laugh, or laugh so hard they cry. He will be very missed."
Kyle Hartung, Vice President - Director of Investment Sales
"I met Bobby when I first broke into the business. He had a client by the same name as me and would always get us confused and email/call me when trying to reach his client. I would receive an email from him and that was supposed to go to his client, and I would reply back…..”wrong Michael Weiss.” That would usually generate a call from him. We would sometimes talk for 45 minutes and always remember those conversations fondly."
Michael Weiss, Senior Director
"Seeing Bobby always put a smile on my face. He had such a warm disposition, and he exuded an infectious positivity to those around him. I’ll miss his stories, one-liners and hearing about his latest adventures. Rest in peace, BB!"
Seth Marks, Senior Director
“After working with Bobby at The Hausman Companies, it was great having a friend in Bobby to make me feel right at home when I was new to Goodman Real Estate. He was one of the most caring, funny, passionate individuals I’ve had the pleasure of knowing, and I admired that Bobby was forever reinventing himself, first as a musician, then a broker, and finally an inventor. He was the “Pun King” of our office, and it was always a challenge picking out his birthday card every year. The card needed to have a clever enough pun to make Bobby crinkle up his eyes and laugh out loud. Your life was much too brief, BB, and I’m honored to have been your friend.”
Anne Santora, Director of Operations
"Bobby was one-of-a-kind! His sense of humor could make anyone laugh. I will miss his stories, and the excitement he had in sharing his adventures with his family. He lived life to its fullest and will be greatly missed."
Michelle Wolanin, Director of Marketing
"I always enjoyed Bobby’s quirky humor. It brought a lightness to the workplace and certainly made the days more entertaining."
