Dear saints,

Next month we will say a fond farewell to Sarah Stewart as she leaves All Saints’ to take up a role as Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Burlingame, CA. Sarah’s final Sunday with us will be on August 21st, and we will celebrate her with a gathering in Ellis Hall following the 9:00 a.m. service.

Just over three years ago, Sarah came to us for a fixed term of service focused on the work of building up the young adult community at All Saints’ and focused on helping us innovate in a rapidly changing context for ministry. She has proven to be a highly skilled and compassionate leader in our midst, building networks of relationships and expanding the circle of this community in generous and grace-filled ways. There are not only more young adults in our parish today; crucially, also we are now more a community where young adults feel at home enough to offer their own gifts for leadership and service. Sarah has helped us become more the church God calls us to be with characteristic warmth and pastoral sensitivity. She will bring so very much as rector to her new community, and we can feel blessed to have been part of her growth in ministry through her years at All Saints’.

In honor of Sarah’s service to All Saints’, I would like to invite you to contribute to a purse in thanksgiving for her ministry here, which will be presented at her farewell gathering next month. You are welcome to make a donation online or via check, noting who you would like the gift to go to.

Please join me in praying for Sarah’s transition and for the people of St. Paul’s, Burlingame, that together they might know God’s mutual call upon their lives and in ministry together.

Peace,
The Rev. Dr. Simon Mainwaring, Rector
