June's Artist of the Month

During the month of June, we'll be showing quilted fiber arts by local resident Jean Curlee. She has generously offered to sell some of the items on display as a donation to the library. Please stop in to view her beautiful work!

Jean has been sewing for most of her life. She loves the softness and colorfulness of fabric, which brings her joy. Jean started sewing in high school, where she initially hated the ugly fabric paired with having to make aprons. Having found her niche as an adult, Jean had a custom drapery business for 20 years. Upon retirement, she began making quilts, table toppers, and other quilted fiber arts for family and friends. She has passed this skill on to her granddaughter, who is following in Jean's stead in finding happiness in sewing.

We are always looking for new artists who want to display their work in the Library! Please email programs@pvlibrary.org for more information.

Senior Movie Morning Wednesday, June 10th @ 11:30am

Seniors (ages 50+) are invited to attend this special seniors-only movie matinee. Light refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring your own snack or lunch to enjoy!

Our movie for June is the 2000 British comedy/drama "Greenfingers," (rated R) starring Clive Owen and Helen Mirren.

The beauty and delicacy of a flower seem a sharp contrast to the rough exterior of a prison inmate. Yet these two images are exactly what writer/director Joel Hershman brings together in Greenfingers, a story of redemption that not only tickles the funny bone, but touches the soul. The movie is loosely based on the true story of inmates at Her Majesty's Prison Leyhills in the Cotswolds, who found rehabilitation through gardening and went on to design award-winning gardens at the prestigious Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Registration required - please click here.
