Volunteers help keep Denton’s homeless residents hydrated during brutal Texas summers

Three times a day, dozens of volunteers with the Denton Water Project fill coolers strategically placed around town with free water bottles and ice. The volunteers are seeing an increased demand from people experiencing homelessness in Denton. Their numbers have risen 20% since last year, the annual January point-in-time survey found. Since 2021, the Denton Water Project has filled coolers across town with more than 350,000 water bottles in the summer for anyone in need, and especially people experiencing homelessness.
