- Healthcare settings (including long-term care facilities)

As Delta Variant Circulates, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Recommends Masking Indoors as a Precaution
With increased circulation of the highly transmissible Delta variant, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health strongly recommends everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks indoors in public places such as grocery or retail stores, theaters and family entertainment centers, and workplaces when you don't know everyone's vaccination status.
Update on the Delta Variant in Los Angeles County (as of July 1): The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is closely watching for Delta variants, which were first detected in India, and are now estimated to comprise more than 26% of U.S. cases. Between last week and this week, the number of Delta variants sequenced doubled to reach a total of 245, 47% of all sequences reported. The rising proportion of Delta among sequenced variants of concern is consistent with what other parts of the U.S. are seeing and represents increased circulation of the variant. Given that 4 million residents in L.A. County are not yet vaccinated, the risk of increased spread is very real.

Safe in the Sun
Long summer days. Beach volleyball. Family BBQs. Summer is in full swing and many of us are out enjoying the famous Southern California weather, hitting the beach and soaking up the sun. When you’re out and about, remember to protect yourself from ultraviolet (UV) rays.
UV rays are a type of radiation that comes from the sun and artificial sources like tanning beds and sunlamps. The sun’s UV rays can reach you year-round and on cloudy days, not only during the summer or on sunny days. Too much sun exposure can damage skin and eyes causing sunburn and cancer.

Protect Yourself and Others from COVID-19
Stay home if you are sick
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health recommends testing for:
- Anyone with signs or symptoms of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status or recent infection.
- Unvaccinated people who have been in close contact with someone who has a confirmed COVID-19 infection or who has had a potential exposure.
- Unvaccinated people who spend time indoors around a lot of people not wearing masks, whether they’ve had symptoms or not.
Get vaccinated. Everyone 12+ is eligible.
Note: People under age 12 cannot get vaccinated at this time because there are no vaccines authorized for use in this age group.
